You know how when you first wake up and the brain hasn't kicked in yet and some things just don't look right and you haven't had any coffee, mind plays tricks on you.

Well we get up this morning, stumble out of the bedroom, tripping over dogs, glance in the other bedroom (cat's room) and there she is hanging on the window screen, 2 front paws on screen, back paws on window sill. I shout out to her (the cat) Nermal don't you tear that screen, new windows. Cat ignores me, nothing new. Then it sort of dawns on my sleepy mind that she is stuck to the screen. Nermal doesn't meow, her meow has been broken for years, she sort of squeaks, which makes it tricky if she gets stuck in a closet or on a window screen, there is this tiny squeak....

So wife and I stumble into the other bedroom and attempt to dislodge the cat from the screen, now mind you we aren't awake yet, haven't gotten a chance to put on protective armor, leather gloves, welding suit etc.

First the left paw, OK so far, nothing damaged, screen OK, wife OK, now the right paw, claws stuck in screen, cat getting nervous, other legs starting to move, wife grabs legs, I grab cat, screen will have to fend for itself, now lift cat very gently to dislodge paw from screen, dodge other razor sharp claws, cat released from screen, all is well.

Of course we didn't have time to get the camera, dogs of course want to see what is up, come into bedroom, now cat sees dogs, and climbs up wife, I grab old dogs and usher them swiftly out of the room.

all is quiet, crisis averted, cat dislodged, dogs put outside

Go make coffee, sit and contemplate the day, trying to figure out what is going to happen next considering how the day has started out.

Actually most of the dogs love the cat, just the old ones sort of like to chase her, not that they could catch her, they love to bark at her and watch her jump.

So have put on tin foil hat, barricaded myself in computer room, closed windows, blinds, shades and am waiting for the next calamity to occur.

db:  Great story to start the week! At least she was inside and not outside stuck on the screen!

Great story!  The only thing I would add is I'm glad you didn't find her glued to the screen again after coffee.

Closed window immediately. She has never done this before, something must have landed on the outside to peak her interest. She usually just sits and watches what goes on outside. She is an inside cat, wouldn't know what to do outside, was a feral that we brought in as a kitten, not sure of her age, probably around 15.

db, It is obviously a conspiracy of some sort, and your family needs these for protection.  Everything is a conspiracy.

Personally, I'm very afraid of tin foil hats.

Great story db--made Monday better.  The same thing happened to one of my cats a couple of years ago too--only one paw, but she couldn't get it out.  Unfortunately I was the only human in the house at the time.

My scars are hardly noticeable now.

db, You should be a writer. No camera needed for me to picture this sight!  Maybe in the future it would be best to keep all protective armour by the bed at night? Never know when you might need it.

Laurie

No room, 5 big dogs take up most of the space, barely enough room to walk, especially in the middle of the night when nature calls, have to stumble over dogs in the dark Grin

That is a funny/scary story about your cat, db.  I have had my little dog's nails get caught in loosely woven fabric a couple of times when I let them get too long and it is a very tense situation.

Justme, that cat on the left of the photo montage, the one with what looks like a citrus fruit skin on its head, looks very angry to me.  I think the owner that did that will be getting some payback while sleeping at night.  Cats have their ways.

Great story. Ah, cats and screens. Well, one day (about 3 years ago) husband and I had to leave for a couple of hours and when we got back the window screen was on the ground and the cat sitting by the front door, meowing hysterically. She must have gotten stuck to the screen (2nd floor bedroom) and somehow the screen and cat went flying. She was not injured, just scared.
