That was my first thought also, but everything else has been fine. Temp, bowel & bladder all ok & other than yesterday & today eating fine. He did come running for cheese[which he loves, but doesn't love him] just like always.I checked him over pretty well,no swelling, tenderness or oral problems either. Or at least no sign of them. He ate all his treats with no hesitation today also. He's not dehydrated or bloated either. Will give it a few days & make appt,he is due for annual in a few weeks anyway.I have been finding a lot of dead[uneaten] voles in the yard & on the deck.Could be he brought 1 in unnoticed or that he ate 1 & picked up something from it.He is in & out, but usually not out longer than needed for bathroom breaks.

leslie,
Glad to hear he seems well.  Maybe just a temporary tummy upset and all will be fine now.  Hoping that is the case.  Still hope you find his secret hiding place, though!   Wink

Glad he is home safe and sound if not seen.I am amazed how cats will come out of the woodwork here when I could find them nowhere..they just appear and start meowing for food..I try not to worry now when I can't find one or two but I am like you and worry anyway.I can't find the hiding spots either. It is really amazing how well they hide.
Glad your little trouble maker is ok.

Well I found the problem ! He is missing a bottom tooth. Didn't see it at first because thats where I was holding his mouth open. From the time we got him his teeth have been loose. Vet thought poor nutrition during gestation for mother & poor nutrition for him early on[ferals]. Gums are not inflamed now & never have been, but loose teeth since at least 4 months old.I am pureeing his food again & he's eating well. Obviously a dental in his near future ! Don't know if they can do anything since he was apparently bormn with the problem. I will check the other threads about gums & teeth, but as I said no obvious irritation.

leslie........

I'm late to this thread but truly happy that Oreo is all safe and sound.

Has he ever been tested for Bartonella Henselae?

Wouldn't be a bad idea to check him for bartonella.
Angel Vet looked in Edgar Winter's mouth at something I showed her and recommended the test.  Ed tested positive and was treated for 3 weeks on Zithromax.  He will be retested at 6 months to the day of completion of the antibiotic.  Bartonella can cause a myriad of dental problems and the protocol recommends a cleaning while the kitty is on the Zithromax.  Ed only had to have one tooth pulled, but if the issue had not been adressed, he could potentially have lost many more teeth.  I had been asking vets for 2 years to look at the tooth issue that I showed Angel vet and everyone blew me off.  The gum around the tooth had a dark red ring around it.  Apparently that can be an indicator of bartonella in kitties.
Hope this helps.
