Oreo has been missing since right after we got up this morning. He may have gone out while I was trying to get Trooper out[Every time its humid & cloudy its a fight to get him out the door].I didn't see him go out though, last I saw him he was sitting on my bed. He always goes out first thing to go before eating, but he didn't come for breakfast, lunchtime treat ,dinner, or bedtime treat. We have searched the entire house, opened every cabinet & closet, checked the attic & basement & no Oreo. I have searched outside & checked with all the neighbors about garages or sheds being open & him being stuck in one.We shook the dry food bag that we sometimes use for treats, told Punkin & the dogs to find him. Walked all around & drove all around the neighborhood. He is chipped, but doesn't have a collar on. I thought I heard faint crying earlier in the kitchen, but found nothing. The only thing I haven't done is rip apart the box springs. We've even tried crawling behind plumbing access with a flash light.I even looked in the fridge & freezer & washer & dryer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated along with positive thoughts. He is neutered & usually only goes out long enough to potty. Unless its dark & he can chase moths, his favorite prey. The only thing unusual in his behavior is he's been attacking Punkin in a dominence way for a few days.I have not tried any shelters yet, because he always stays in our yard or the 2 nearest neighbors. He would not go up to strangers so I don't think anyone grabbed him.Too many memories of feral kittenhood to go near anyone he doesn't know well. He has never disappeared or missed a meal before. It was trash day here though, and recycling. But I am not sure he went out. Help ! He's a real pain in the butt, but he's my pain & I am worried sick !

I'll be praying for Oreo, Leslie! Is the the fist 4th of July holiday season that he has been with you? I'm wondering if fireworks make him nervous since you said he's been acting funny for the past few days. They start blowing off stuff around here a few days early. (In fact I hear big booms right now. Hate the private fireworks!)
I'm afraid he might tend to hide awhile. If I think of a hiding place that you didn't mention, I'll let you know.

Oh my gosh, you must be so worried.
All I can think is to try calling OREO! in a high-pitched voice both inside and outside your house. When I was little, that's how I would always get Fluffers to come home for my bedtime.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news soon.

Sending prayers and good thoughts for Oreo's return, Leslie. We had some success in the past getting a skittish kitty to come in, by closing all other cats into a back room, opening the front door, and placing a trail of strong smelling fish leading from outside into the house.

leslie have you tried up in the wheel well of your car or vehicle? Sometimes cats crawl up in there to get out of a storm or away from a predator. Hope Oreo is found safe and sound so you can have your piece of mind back.

Oh YAY happy news! I'm so glad! That sneak! Love how he was nonchalantly sitting on your bed like - "Oh, hi, you're home." I'll bet you did a double-take!

Just saw this ~ glad that Oreo is home, safe and sound. Now you can have that nervous breakdown!! Don't ya wish cats could talk? Wonder what kind of "adventure" Oreo had . . .
Happy ending at least! catmom5

Glad this event was all over before I even read the thread! I'm so glad that you found him. It does sota sound like he may have been hiding in the house, since no one really saw him leave or come back. Cats DO find hiding places that we can't find.

I saw the title of this thread and thought, "oh, no!" But isn't that just like a cat--sitting nonchalantly on your bed as if nothing had happened. I am so glad that he is safe at home with you! I wonder where he went, and, if he was indeed in the house, why he did not come out at mealtime.
This is two black-and-whites on this forum who have gone missing recently (Cato and now Oreo.) I'd better keep a very close eye on Linley!
