You have to read the whole link and look at the picture. It makes Me sick that Bush is going to a place that does this. Horrible.

Beijing takes dog off the menu for Olympics

BEIJING (Reuters) - Beijing has asked hotels and restaurants in the city to take dog meat off the menu for the duration of next month's Olympics and September's Paralympics.
Dog is eaten not only by the large Korean community in China's capital but is also popular in Yunnan and Guizhou restaurants.

A directive from the Beijing Food Safety Office issued last month ordered Olympic contractor hotels not to provide any dishes made with dog meat and said any canine material used in traditional medicated diets must be clearly labeled.

This two-faced cr*p will stop as soon as the Olympics are over and Beijing doesn't stand to lose tourist $$$. Which will not be a good thing for our canine friends. Which is not a good thing for our canine friends outside of Beijing anyway.

"The directive "advocated" that all restaurants serving dog suspend it during the Olympics but made no mention of the many popular establishments with donkey on the menu."   Shocked

Ok, I know some folks eat horses, but I had no idea they eat donkeys!

I know that some of the "cuisine" of other countries offend our sensibilities.  But, believe it or not, some of OUR "cuisine" is just as offensive to people of some other countries.   Wink

I do at least have to give China credit for realizing that "dog" on the menu may not be well received by their international tourists.

Mandy makes a good point, revolting as this is to most of us. The Bejing Olympics, however,
are already off my watch list because of the human rights issues and the fact that Chinese
adulterated foods and drugs are so freely and unsafely sent around the world.
