Does anyone know if Menu Foods followed through on testing for acetaminophen? This news article is from Oct. 24, 2007: "The company confirmed this week that it will test samples of Special Kitty food specifically for acetaminophen." http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/10/pet_food_recalls81.html(Pardon this post if I missed the published test results.)

Buy local. Buy organic. If you ate today, thank a farmer, hopefully a small, local farmer.
Remember the thousands & thousands of pets that died to give US a wake-up call about the safety of ALL food.

I have no idea if they have tested and I have been looking for the test results---not on their website and don't know where else they would post them. I think it was Oct 19th that they put on their website they would! At this point I think this shows how unimportant we pet parents really are. I thought that everyone was working together to get to the problem. I can not understand why, even as a courtesy, the test results are not posted. I hope that MenuFoods posts the results and does not hide behind the no contact order it was given by the courts. It did not stop them from posting new info about retesting! I have learned so much these last few months about what is legal and what is moral. I will still try to move forward with what I believe is the moral thing to do! It is too late for any change for my two cats as they are not young and both now with health issues, but maybe in the future pet food companies will treat us better. I can honestly say I am sad to see what the "big business" mentality is. Big business would be nowhere without us little guys! I guess to them we are all john smith's and jane doe's but to me we all are worth more.

It is SEVEN WEEKS ago today that Menu Foods posted they would retest ASAP the same batch of food that tested positive for acetaminophen. Just a reminder that IMO this is how much the company truly cares about the consumers they want to but their product --If they truly wanted to make a difference from their disaster earlier this year, wouldn't you think they would take this seriously and post something---this shows how little they continue to think of pets and their owners! Don't be fooled! Just a reminder to all who read here!

Kinda looks like they know that acetaminophen will be found in the food and they really don't want to acknowledge that it is there. That would really be the 'end' for them!

I just sent Carol a message, did everyone see the update at Menu Foods as of today? They state they had UC Davis test and it found no traces of acetaminophen. Go look at their site www.menufoods.com Sandi

UC Davis does NOT test low enough to be able to detect the acetaminophen in the food, as has been stated before, therefore menu's statement still means nothing. Why are they still trying to discredit ExperTox?

Because they know the only way to do so is use a pf co supported lab that can't test low enough for it. If they come out & dispute the ExperTox results without their own results they would be sued for slander. This way people who don't know about the different testing methods will think its safe & keep buying it.We really need to find a European lab that can do this testing. It's the only way to show how they are using slight of hand to make people think their food is safe.

They try to discredit Epertox because if they had to admit it was true about acetaminophen, it would hurt them financially worse than they already are, $0.92 this morning. What really should happen is UC Davis ought to come forward and admit they only test down to a certain level and that their equipment more than likely isnt picking it up as its not sensitive enough. But Im afraid hoping that people will come forward and do the right just isnt going to happen anymore.
What I really didnt like was their tone in the statement. They say a "single individual suggested". Now why did he do that? How bout because a valid lab came forward with those findings after testing? And then what about them saying "the acetaminophen claims were re-cycled in October". I find that downright disrespectful using the word "recycled". There is no way they can duplicate Epertox's claims without testing the same food that Don and Carol had, both parties offered to have them test that food but they dont want to do that. As far as alleviating any public concerns, they have done far from doing that. If you leave room for people to think you are testing food you had made up for the occasion rather than the same food provided to Epertox, you cant duplicate findings. Menu Foods, get real and start learning about respect for the consumer instead of intimidation and walking around the problem. As far as PR goes, you have none! Showing the same kind of attitude that they showed at the time of the recalls, oh you silly consumers, we dont need to answer to you. We are above you and our only concern is our pocketbook. OK now Ive worked myself into a tizzy, gotta go calm down. Aaarrgh!

I am going to not say any more right now as I need to collect my thoughts and make a few calls!

Unfortunately Menu saw fit to use the same lab and not make public the actual lab results---I am curious to see if there was melamine and NO cyanuric acid like mine! I guess the only labs that can be "trusted" by some are the ones that get big money for research from the pet food industry IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

Seriously, why would anyone care what Menu Foods says they will do or results of any tests they might or might not have taken. If they looked me in the eye and told me the sky was blue I wouldn't believe it either.
I don't know what the status is on the class action lawsuits, but I would think the court dates are coming up. So I guess we can expect to hear more rumblings from Menu Foods about testing. Could be MF is hiding test results, good or bad, on the instructions from their attorneys.
