So fitting for each and every pet owner of 2007 who lost a pet and all the many others
who know in their hearts that bad pet food contributed to the loss of their loved companion
animal.

Thank you, 3cat, for sharing the poem with Susan and the donors of Vindication.

I still mourn for my beloved golden Ginger Snap, who was not only the victim of tainted pet food treats but, in my opinion, of the FDA, which apparently failed to inform veterinarians (at least seven of those to whom I took Ginger within a 35 mile radius) that there was a lengthy list of tainted products for all sorts of pets. Thus, Ginger never received the correct kind of care nor was she tested for the chemical in the treats that led to her classic symptoms of kidney failure suffered for far longer than she should have. The guilt I live with that I fed my ... I'm sorry, I'm crying right now ... beloved, my child, my dearest friend the very treats that killed her ... daily ... this guilt is too much to bear ... if it weren't for my having another rescued golden, two lives would be gone instead of one because I cannot live with the guilt.

Big hugs to you TrdufWrld. We have all felt that guilt and helplessness. Please know you did your best for Ginger Snap and she knows how much you loved her. Hoping for changes to the food safety problems, and wishing you many happy memories of your girl.

TrdufWrld,
I'm so glad that you have come to Itchmo to share your heartache and pain about the loss of your friend Ginger Snap. There are many here who were also victims of the pet food poisonings. Welcome! May you find healing here for your guilt because it was not your fault, you didn't know.

Hugs

TrdufWrld, there are so very many who live with your guilt and the fear of having it
happen again. Your pain for Ginger Snap is well understood here. Hugs to you and
Ginger Snap and your rescued Golden, and to never ever letting the same thing happen again.

TrdufWrld, we, here, understand how you feel. It is the reason for Itchmo's existence. There is nothing any of us could have done then, but now we are smarter and we question everything. Please don't blame yoursef. I know the pain will never go away, but Ginger Snap knows that you would never have done anything to hurt her. She knows and understands now.

There is nothing to take away the pain..but do know you are among many  who understand so well...sadly...for what you are going through.  This forum is a good place for you to express your anger and your sadness....I used to say that saying that misery loves company but I say now..misery NEEDS company..and that is what is here at the forums....
