Thank you, Ben, for setting this memorial up for us.

Let's figure out how we want to do this to give it the dignity it deserves before we start posting.

To start with:

A.  You can choose to lock your individual memorials so no one else can comment on them or keep them unlocked.

B.  You can give links to friends or other forums to post here.

1.  Put your cat or dog's name and your ID as the only words in the subject line.  That way we can sort them by subject.

Pet's name; Your Forum ID

Pepper; JustMe

--------------------------------

2.  Or we could have your pet's name as the subject.
i.e.,  Pepper

3.   Or we could have only the posters ID in the title.
i.e., JustMe
------------------------

Posting section,
This is 3Cats idea:  In this case, 3Cats would have 3 separate threads (1 for each of her beloved kitties)

USA, NV, Doozie, cat, 10 years, kidney failure, euthanized February 10, 2007
USA, NV, IQ, cat, 16 years, kidney failure January 2007, under treatment
USA, NV, Smorgi, cat, 15 years, kidney failure January 2007, under treatment

---------------------

Any other information in the beginning of your individual post?

---------------------

Then continue your posting with your pet's story and/or photo(s).

How does that sound?

We're going to post individual memorials here to our pets who were victims of the pet food recall that was announced March 16, 2007, lost, sickened and still recovering, recovered pets.  Our other memorial section is for all pets we have lost.  This section is solely for our fur kids who were vicitims.

I like 3cats' idea in different thread but I think it's important for all of the furkids be one after another somehow so others can see some people had many pets affected---could we do that or have to have user name first?
I think it would be more meaningful to keep the pets together as they lived!?
Just a thought but I will go with anything---I'm just glad to have this board!

I can compile names into one separate thread once people post their individual threads.

JustMe, just some thoughts:

There was an issue with people involved in lawsuits and a story thread that Mike at defendourpets.org was trying to develop. So posters here need to
keep that in mind. I know Mike worked very hard to get stories of pets
published, and I know all of us would like to write about the furkids we've lost
or who have been ill. But perhaps too many particular medical details may not
be wise(?). Just photos and stories from your heart.

Maybe we need a length limit. I could write on for hours about my furkids, their
personalities, the joy they brought to my life. So perhaps some limit needs to be
set regarding photo sizes and length (?).

I'm not clear exactly on how this would be open to other groups to post to. I'm
sure there are many who would like to leave a memorial.

Other than that, as usual, JustMe, and Ben, thank you so much for this chance
to speak on the furkids behalf.

Good points 3Cats.

Please use discretion in what you post if you are involved in litigation.  You don't want to reveal information here that could jeopardize your claim.

I thought somebody wanted to invite others to post here?  Anybody who wants to post would have to register first.

I guess you all should go ahead and post when you feel that you are ready, and I will make a list on the top thread.

Update:  I've been thinking about this.  Maybe it would be best if each member posts in his or her own style and with their own chosen subject heading instead of trying to follow a format.  Whatever you feel comfortable with is fine.  Sorry to confuse.

I had three cats develop ARF in May.  One died and two are being monitored currently.  The vet believes it was the food that did it.  LadyCat's kidney biopsy showed it was clogged with crystals.  However, the food never appeared on the recall list.  Can I post here or not?

(They were eating food that contained gluten.)

Mrs. P, I think these memorials are for anyone whose furkids
became ill or died and wants to leave a tribute. I don't believe anyone
knows all the contaminants contained in commercial pet foods, nor do I believe
all the commercial pet foods that caused illness and death were ever recalled.
If it is your opinion that Ladycat was one of the victims of the pet food recalls
of 2007 by virtue of illness and death, the post would hardly be complete without her.

Yes, memorials to pets posters believe were sickened by unrecalled foods are appropriate here.

One last thought and I'll be quiet. I'm kind of at the point
where I'd like the commercial pet food companies to prove
to me based on the foods my furkids ate in late 2006 and early 2007
that their foods did not cause my cats' illnesses. I can
certainly prove through electronic records what I purchased. I wonder
if the commercial pet food companies could prove that the foods
did not cause the illnesses and death.

I know Sunshine just died but after the many years of eating a certain food, i do think it finally caught up with Her. Can We post something like that, a cat you know in your heart just died but because of a buildup of bad food?

I agree, Trudy.  My daughter's cat died (a week before LadyCat) of mouth cancer.  I would like to see a place we could list animals who died from that poison they call food.
