Peanut "Pea": between 17-20 years old, poisoned by cat food, diagnosed with renal insuffiency, surviving under treatment.

Tig "T" : 12 years old, poisoned by cat food, surviving under treatment.

I am especially upset about Peanut, or Pea,as we usually call her.  She is old, of course, but we had bloodwork done for her in August of 2006.  Everything came back normal including kidney function.  Better than just normal--I distinctly remember the vet remarking that if he didn't know better he would assume that he was looking at lab results for a much younger cat.  Now we have to give her subcutaneous hydration 2 to 3 times a week to keep her kidneys functioning properly and she hates it.  I will never forgive myself for feeding my cats that food.  Pea could have lived out her last years in relative comfort if not for ingesting the poisoned food.
