I sent an email to Nature's Variety because I had heard rumblings about their sourcing of ingredients.  I have fed Instinct for a long time & recently started to feed Hannah the new Limited Ingredient.  This was a wonderful reply from customer service & it sure made me feel a little better about feeding their food.  Thought you might want to read this.

All of our poultry, pork, bison, and beef come from the U.S. and our lamb and venison are imported from Australia and New Zealand.  Our vegetables and fruits are sourced from the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East, depending on the ingredients. Our grains and starches are sourced from the U.S., Canada, and Brazil - herbs and spices from North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Our pharmaceutical grade vitamins and minerals are from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The rabbit protein we use in our raw diet is from China. The rabbit in our canned is sourced from Italy and China, while the rabbit in our kibble is from France. We employ a U.S. educated food scientist in China to oversee our rabbit sourcing. All rabbit protein is tested before shipment from China and again after it arrives in the U.S. for processing into our raw diet. We are very confident in how we handle our sourcing from China.  We source most of our ingredients from the U.S. and turn to other locations only as needed. We are very stringent on our sourcing and have good relationships built with our vendors for quality ingredients.

Thanks for supporting Nature's Variety!

Sincerely,
Shannon

I like this company, but my kitties are turning their noses up to it recently.  Also the raw diet made my maus sick on a consistent basis.  Sad

But the letter does sound good, and I think this company still cares.

That sounds encouraging.  It's good to know the rabbit in the dry food is not MIC.  I thought all their rabbit was raised in China.

Me too..........once heard all rabbit in pet food comes from China so I won't buy anything rabbit based.

I just feel good that NV answered the very next day & in such detail...........made me feel a lot better about feeding their food.  Have used both Core & Instinct for a really long time but I haven't checked in w/either of them for a while.  These are the only two I have found so far that don't set her off into a scratching frenzy..........I posted about Ultramix that I just tried for the first time.  So far so good.  Nice to know I have found three dry foods that I can feed.  I've tried most of them & even the best of the best don't work for her.
