Posting a headsup here.  Please see link if you use Friskies canned classic pates.

For 2 days and 4 meals, most of our 16 cats aged less than 1-year-old to 11-years-old were refusing December, 2013, best by dates of Friskies 13 ounce cans of Turkey & Giblets and Mixed Grill. Also, 5.5 ounce cans of Poultry platter.

Nobody seemed sick. Our 11-year-old was really quiet and hiding Monday, but seems fine now. Lots of hairball spitting up yesterday and some vomiting of food. Everyone ate well this morning cans from October, 2013, best by dates.

A friend that does feral cat rescues also told me she had a lot of Friskies refused by all her cats.  Trying to find out date on that one.

Thanks for the heads up.  My cats have this occasionally and usually love Mixed Grill.  Lately they haven't eaten much of it.  I will check the dates on all of the Friskies I have.

Now that you mention it, JM, Kozy refused the 5.5 oz Sept. 2013 batch of Mixed Grill but he's eating Nov. 2013 fine.  I haven't seen any December on the shelves here yet.  Thanks for the post!

My Bette Davis (Pinkie), feral that stays mostly in basement, was just crying down there. I got another cat out of the basement so she could get to litter box, and Pinkie immediately ran to litter box with diarrhea and then was vomiting on stairs, mounds of food and a hairball.  She is the only one of 16 cats that consistently ate the Friskies lots the last 2 days that the rest of my cats either refused or picked at.

Darn, I just picked up a couple of cans of these kinds for my feral. Off to check the dates . . .

Turkey & giblets used to be a sure thing for Punkin , but he's walked away from several fall 2013 dates lately. No vomiting or diarrhea, so I just thought it was normal HyperT pickyness. The dogs always finish it & no problems for them. Oreo has never been a Friskie's fan, so I don't go by his refusals of it.

So far, kitties like the January, 2014, best by dates for big cans of Turkey and Giblets and Mixed Grill classic pates. Took about a week for them to start liking their food again though.
