I know there are a few people here, like me, who use Friskies for their cats or ferals.  The last 3 weeks we have been having difficulty finding large cans of Friskies pate, especially the turkey and giblets.  There were a lot of small cans last week, now those are getting scarce here.  Two different stores told me they were told there was an ingredient shortage.  I actually happened across a Purina rep in a store today and she said the they weren't available in warehouse, and then I mentioned the ingredient shortage. Also asked all 3 if there was a recall, and they said "no".

With 17 cats, we go through 6 big cans a day, 4 small cans, and some kibble.

Anyone else having trouble finding Friskies?

I have noticed there are more cuts in gravy than pate , but have been able to get some . Not a good thing because it almost always means a problem with something in the food !

The shortage is with pork (by-products).  I called Purina and they had a prepared statement on the issue.  Due to the pig virus, there is a shortage of pork products. Even though pork is not listed as an ingredient, it is part of the byproducts they use.  They said the shortage may even last through the end of September before they can resume production.

I took the opportunity to ask once again about Friskies manufacturing and was told done in USA, mostly USA ingredients with some supplements not available in USA sourced outside of USA.

So, now I will be scrambling to feed my cats, as will many others, especially rescues and TNR groups, I would imagine.

p.s. There is pork in a lot of prescription canned foods.

So far okay here, at least with the ~6oz cans. The entire Friskies display at the local Petco seems to have halved in size, however--don't quite know what that's about.  I just ordered 2 cases from them online, to get the free shipping on something else, and they haven't said anything yet about it being out of stock, so I guess we'll see.  Thanks for the heads up, JM.

Went to a local Shaws supermarket today and checked out the Friskies. Shelves were kind of sparse, but they did have some of  the whitefish pate special diet 5.5oz (probably not a popular flav   Tongue).

So far, still finding small cans, but less on the shelves.
