Oklahoma-Lawton-Comanche County-

Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County
P.O. Box 3134
Lawton, OK 73502
580-355-7729

Page 4 of the society's Fall newsletter (link above) has information about spaying for a dime and neutering for a nickel.  This was made possible by grant money the society received in November.  It's not known whether there are still funds, so please contact them for more information.  Their home page (also linked above) says "We will help you spay or neuter your pet", so there must be a program that's still active.

Low Cost spay/neuter clinics.     The ARK provides these clinics throughout the year, roughly once a month.   The Clinic is designed to assist low income or fixed income families with a reduced cost    OR assist if multiple animals need to be fixed.

Large Dog Voucher Assistance.    To address the number of large roaming dogs in McCurtain County, a special grant assists the ARK with these cases.  If the animal is over 39 pounds and you are of limited or fixed income (under $25,000 a year) you should call 580-236-2275, leave your name and number and we will call you back to make voucher arrangements.

Best Friends of Pets’ Spay/Neuter Assistance Program makes spaying and neutering affordable for qualified low-income pet owners in the Oklahoma City metro area.

http://www.bestfriendsokc.org/spay_neuter_assistance.htm

Best Friends’ SNAP (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program) offers two levels of assistance to pet owners in the Oklahoma City metro area: low income pet owners and the general public.

Low income pet owners are those receiving Medicaid, OKDHS or SSI (Supplemental Security Income) assistance and having proof of benefits such as an Oklahoma Health Care Authority card, Access card, or Notice of Award letter. Fees are $10 for cats and $20 for dogs. Rabies vaccinations are $5 and are only available at the time of surgery.

General Public SNAP: Pet owners who do not qualify for our Low-Income SNAP may receive assistance to have their pets spayed or neutered. Pet owners must show a need for SNAP services (i.e, household income, number of people in the household, information on pet to be spayed or neutered, and any other information that shows why SNAP assistance is needed). Fees are $35 for male cats, $60 for female cats, $70 for male dogs and $90 for female dogs.

SNAP is only available for owned pets and is limited to four pets each year. SNAP will not cover feral or stray animals.

To receive a SNAP application, call Best Friends at 629-6795. The SNAP application is a two-part form and must be mailed. It cannot be faxed or emailed.
