I still see a many members haven't blocked their email addresses.  In case you don't want the general public to be able to see your address, you should go to your profile section and "hide" your address.

You wouldn't want "evil-doers" to get your address and spam you or whatever.

1.  Click on your Profile (upper right side of page)
2.  Click on Account Related Settings  (left hand side of page)
3.  Put a check mark in Hide email address from public? box.
4.  Go to bottom of page and clock on Change Profile.  you will have to reenter your password there.
5.  If you are logged in you can still see your email.  Don't panic.  Log out and then you will see your email is not visible.

Just a warning;if you google your screen name your email & the fact that you are online will show for you. Do it from another computer or have a friend do it to be sure.

You know, I can see my email address in my profile and in the members area when I am logged in even though it is supposed to be hidden.  When I emailed for help on this issue I was told that I can only see it because I'm logged in, but others can't see it.  Does anyone know if this is the case?  It seems kind of odd.  Also, as JustMe pointed out it seems like there are a lot of people who didn't hide the address and that also seems weird to me.  I was wondering if there was some kind of glitch where certain email addresses were being displayed when they shouldn't be.

When I logged out of the Itchmo Forum, opened another tab and googled my username as if I was anyone surfing the web, I got entries that lead to my profile but when I clicked on it I could not see my email address. If I did this while I was logged in to the Forum I could see it. But it's my understanding that other members who are logged in can't see it, so long as you have blocked it.

I can't see your email. I can only see ones that haven't chosen the option to hide their emails.  You can see your own email only if you are logged in.  That is the way it is supposed to work.  If you can see your email while you aren't logged in, then we have a problem for the administrators to look at.

for those of you who have yourselves permanently logged in and have forgotten your password--

If you want to make changes in your profile and enter the wrong password, you will get a prompt asking if you want a password reminder.  You will then be asked to enter the answer to the "secret question" that you put in when you registered.  You will then be able to access/change your password.

For security reasons, I believe it is best to log out after you have finished a session on the forum, and not leave yourself permanently logged in.  This advice comes from members of my family who work in computer tech support.  (Entering it every day helps you remember it in case you ever need it, too!   Cheesy )

Try logging out.  At the bottom of the main screen, where it says "login", there is a place where you can click to request a password reminder.  (Apparently some of the setting changes in the profile will go to the password reminder but not others.  Sometimes my cats "help" me type my password, and that's how I found out what happens when it's wrong!)

Thanks catbird.
Good idea to log out after forum visits.
I'm going to do that.

And I shall share my little secret for all who have password remembering issues.

I have a "little black book"
It contains my passwords

I no longer have active brain cells......hence the need for the little black book   Wink
