So I finally did it.
I spent Friday outdoors gardening, came in the house and despite long pants and long sleeves, shoes and socks, I had over 100 mosquito bites on me. I spent Saturday and Sunday in bed with severely swollen knee and ankle joints and a fever of 103. Topping that off, Rufus is back with urinary issues.....very high alkaline urine.
Today my mosquito netting outfit arrived. I put it on and walked outside and it was truly amazing to see the little s#%ts trying their darndest to get at me. I got mosquito pants and a mosquito jacket which comes with a hood. One little bugger bit my eyelid though, but that was the only casualty so far.
The looks I got from people walking by the house ranged from horrified to amused. I was fully clothed under this contraption......DH was threatening to take pictures and post here, but thankfully he was laughing so hard he couldn't hold the camera steady.
DH can be such a pinhead sometimes. One would think he would be happy I got this thing. No one cooked for him over the weekend cause someone didn't feel well and he was most miserable......sometimes a pinhead.

Oh, Peg, not funny for you, but what images it brings to mind. You finally dress as the threatening terrorist we're all considered for asking the government to make the food supply safe. Will you be our poster girl? I take it the Listerine tanked as a repellant? Since these Tiger Mosquitos are headed anywhere, I hope you found something that helps with the reaction and really do hope you feel better. Let us know.

Peg so glad the mosquito suit works. Could you please provide place you bought suit from? The mosquitos seem to be very viscious this year and I might think of getting one also as I do a lot of yard work and love to garden.

Yeah, I want to know where you got it too. Perhaps we could all don our suits and take pics as poster children for safe pet food! But seriously I want to know where you got the suit too, I might consider it for here!

http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Category___307__It really does work. There is one draw back however, and that is the temperature. Despite the fact that it's open netting, this on top of long sleeves and long pants and I needed subq fluids Tomorrow I try this outfit wearing shorts and a T-shirt................. Thursday I try it with just my birthday suit ......................just kidding And by Friday I should be on the cover of the next month's Cosmo.................not............ROFLMAO...............

Peg, Mine covers my face as well as my head, a feature I love, but think that the neighbors find particularly bizarre! You should be fine with shorts and top under it. Sure beats being mosquito bait!

I'm allergic to mosquito bites, too, and also even 'tho Jake is on hearworm prevention I don't want the nasty buggers biting him. We use Skin So Soft from Avon mixed w/ water in a spray bottle. Both of us. It seems to be working. Skeeters and bees love me. I think just perhaps it is blood glucose levels being high? Maybe my carbon dioxide is too high as well?

Glad you found some protection! The mosquitos haven't been as bad as the no-see-ems in my yard. I react badly to those little buggers and they are so tiny that it's hard to see them when they attack. I've found a patch that I've used for my grandkids and it seems to help. It's from Rite Aid and is "Don't bite me" and is deet free, all natural ingredients. I may try one next time I do a gardening marathon.
Waiting to see the pictures . . .

I'm very allergic to mosquito bites too. I have found that drinking a mixture of water and Brewer's Yeast powder helps. Use about 2 spoon-fulls. Drink this mixture about a half hour before going outside. My theory is that this makes my blood unappealing to them somehow. I think brewer's yeast works because it has a lot of b vitamins in it. Sometimes people with a b (12?) deficiency get bitten more often. We sometimes use tea tree oil wash for ant and mosquito bites, but not over a large area of the body. It is very effective if used right away, prevents the major swelling. It has anti-inflammatory properties, antibacterial, and antifungal. Some people are very allergic to it though, so I would test a small patch of skin first. My grandma always had us take our fingernails, press an "X" on the bite and then apply alcohol. It worked pretty well.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26273950Interesting article about the little buggers not liking the smell of DEET I keep coming up with a visual of mosquitos with little clothspins on their noses.............. Shorts and t-shirt worked well this morning. At one time I actually had a herd of them hovering around my right arm. Here I am using my few remaing brain cells to try to outsmart these little buggers I am doing the brewers yeast..........allergic to tea tree oil.....the x with the alcohol helped quite a bit thank you DMS. Oh and folks, no birthday suit pics with netting will be forthcoming. I do not want to be the cause of anyone's frighteningly hiddeous nightmares
