I heard about that, too, and got the heebie jeebies about flower pots. This song will cure those: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9Afn3Z-BWIThe Boswell Sisters - Heebie Jeebies (1932)
(And it looks like the flower pot story might be a rumor. Sounds good to me. ) http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2008/07/12/badalert.ART_ART_07-12-08_B3_URAO29F.html"If disease-carrying mosquitoes, harmful sun rays and E. coli bacteria aren't enough to shake your summer, consider exploding flowerpots and propane tanks that fly like missiles.
Stories about both spread recently in two Columbus suburbs like dandelions in a field.
And though they alarmed some residents, each had only a grain of truth...." Flowerpot heater....these do blow up.

Interesting, Klondike. My story was from a different state than yours. Really strange! Well, I hope my flowerpots are all safe in the heatwave we are having here!

It might have really happened somewhere. I was scared of the bag of trimmings I put next to the garage today....I'll just play that Heebie Jeebies video again. We'll forget all about this. (Soon, please! )

Don, When I was a child I was told that these tiny frogs were called Spring Peepers. We often found them clinging to the outiside of our sliding glass doors of our house. A really up close and personal view, I might say! They are a kind of tree frog. Thanks for bringing up a childhood memory! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_Peeper

We usually get a tree frog on the glassfront door every time it rains. We've had larger ones, about an inch and a half, and they are the same shade of green as the frog in the photo Don posted. The most recent one had large brown irregular patches on its back sort of like a snake, and it's underside was pale green and white, with orange places on the back legs. Between the nature guide and the Internet sources, I'm fairly certain this one, about an inch and a half long, was a Gray Tree Frog. I'm glad we have some frog species variation left because our toads that used to hop around on the ground 20 years ago, are mostly gone now.
Now if it would just rain again! We're back in a drought pattern this year.

Hey, I quoted something! I don't know why the quote and my response are both in one blue panel though....tech, sigh.

That's a scream about DH, Don. (ROFL) It's taken me a long time to learn some of the acronyms.

In the context I'd see it, it was completely consistent with a beloved house pet. You know; not necessarily perfectly behaved at all times, and not necessarily held in high regard, but well loved never the less.
Then the 'D' in DH meant 'dear' in those posts. That's a good sign. That one took me awhile, too, Don. It is funny when we look back to when we wondered about why so many people knew that 'DH' character. Loved the cute frog photos and stories, everyone. I haven't seen one in a long time.

He's so tiny! DH and I haven't heard any Peepers this year. Very disappointed. This is the first year in 3 decades that we have been in this house that we have not had the pleasure of hearing Peepers. I guess they finally managed to demolish their habitat with overddevelopment.

ROFL, Don! Hmmm...maybe it is a kind of house pet. The "D" can also have a couple of different meanings. We have the little green frogs here in the spring, mostly in the wetland areas. I hear tree frogs singing in the evening around my neighborhood, but never see them in the yard. I love your description of frogs with their smile!
