You're welcome, lesliek!  I just knew others would like to hear it again.  It's such a wonderful song, I wonder why it doesn't get any airplay.

RIP Phil Everly. We're losing way too way to many musicians.  Thank goodness others keep performing into their 60s and 70s.

Rest in the peace you worked so hard for, Pete Seeger. We were privileged to have you on this planet for 94 years. I wish you could have stayed longer yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXKJ1jPuaoI

Most people know that Pete had something to do with We Shall Overcome, but not many realize that the folksong greats If I Had a Hammer and Turn, Turn, Turn, and many others, were his, too.

I was lucky to have seen Pete live in concert a number of times. One memory I will never lose is the way he had a sold-out theater crowd of over 2500 divided into four or five parts singing our hearts out on The Lion Sleeps Tonight.  And it sounded really good! That, and his (rather irreverent) version of Give Me That Old-Time Religion. lyrics here:
http://lyrics.wikia.com/Pete_Seeger:Old_Time_Religion
He had us all singing the chorus on that one, too.

Thanks for posting, catbird.

Goodnight, Pete.  We'll see you in our dreams.

Because your music encouraged us to dream a better world.

We surely did lose a good guy . . . how different from some of the "music" nowadays.
RIP Mr Seeger - you truly made a difference in this world.

He never hit a wrong note either onstage or off.  I grew up with his music and never lost my love for it and for him.  I knew this day had to come but he will be so missed.   Cry

There's a petition for a Pete Seeger memorial on here; you have to scroll down towards the end of the article.

I heard this song tonight and immediately thought "This is my Itchmo theme song"!  So maybe all of the lyrics don't pertain, but the title sure does.
