Hey all you music-lovers out in Itchmo-land, it’s your friendly local radio station W-TCHM-FM comin’ at ya, playin’ the oldies night and day.  Want us to play a song that speaks to where you’re at today?  Where you’ve been or where you’re goin’?  The request line will be open!

First up, for the pet food recall:

   There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear

Stop, hey, what’s that sound?
Everybody look what’s goin’ down

(For What It’s Worth, Buffalo Springfield, 1967)

And next, from the disco era, speaks to the heart right now:

Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive

(from the BeeGees in Saturday Night Fever)

And now a dedication, to the FDA and the PFI, for all that fancy sidesteppin’ footwork in those news conferences:

Dancing Queen, by ABBA, from 1976

OK, takin’ requests now, wadd’ya want us to play?

catbird,

Don't do this to me.  I LOVE Buffalo Springfield

I'd like to hear anything by Jesse Colin Young, but in particular, my favorite is Get Together.

Anything by Bob Seger.  My most favorite all-time artist.  He has a song for every mood.  Silver Bullet Band with Don Brewer on drums.  Favorite song:  Roll Me Away  (need a song that makes me forget about everything, get on that big 2 wheeler)

Bob's original war protest song 2+2=?.  Bob's latest war protest song (2006):  No More

Are you sorry when the lights begin to fade
Are you sorry for the promises you made
for the burden of the ones who had to fall
When you didn't see the writing on the wall

It was forty years ago and I was young
and the jungle not the desert heard the guns
Someone said they had a secret plan
and the rest of us were told to understand

Well I don't want this, no I don't want this
I have had enough no more

Get Out of Denver (cause the man is chasin' ya)

Grand Funk Railroad.  (I'm Your Captain)

Iron Butterfly  (who cares what they are saying)

Jimi Hendrix (All Along the Watchtower...........

Got to see both Bob Seger and Grand Funk in concert this year.  They were AWESOME.  Classic Rock Allstars band consisting of members of Iron Butterfly, Rare Earth, Sugarloaf, Hannibal & the Headhunters)

Zager & Evans  (In the year 2525)  what else is there to say:

In the year 2525
If man is still alive.
If woman can survive, they may find.

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies.
Everything you think, do and say, is in the pill you took today.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts

JustMe,
Fair is fair.  It was having your Cher song parody (Flamers, trolls, and shills, we hear it from the people of the town, they call us...) replaying thru my head for five days that drove me to it!  Wink

I'm still hearing Cher's song, too.

Thank you, for my latest one in my head.  Now I'm thinking of a certain person doin' the walk and swingin' a paint can.....

Stayin' Alive, Stayin Alive, ooh ooh oooh ooh,  Stayin' Aliiiiiivvvve

This sounds like fun... although I'm not so good a lyricist and poet as JustMe... but I love music!

OK listeners, the PFI convention is coming up in the middle of October!  In honor of that wonderful occasion, we have a song dedicated to the PFI, for their menu planning (apologies to Weird Al):

You say that it’s good, so
Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it!
Open up your mouth and feed it!
Have some Ol’ Roy and some Nutriplan,
It doesn’t matter if it’s pouched, bagged, or canned
Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it!
Why don’t you let me repeat it:
Have some Science Diet, a chicken jerky strip,
Make sure you dunk it in a Nutro Max Cat dip,
Just eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it!
Eat it, eat it, eat it, eat it.

Resurrecting this thread:

Bands of the 60s/early 70s.

If you were into rock, particularly if you were east coast:

Anybody remember Vanilla Fudge?    "You Keep Me Hanging On"
(they are actually touring this year)
http://www.vanillafudge.com/

If anybody remembers the Illusion, you are very cool and forever hip (in my book).  "Did You See Her Eyes"

I remember Vanilla Fudge well, but not the Illusion.  Did they make it to the Midwest?  I guess maybe that qualifies me as half-cool? Grin

Reading back over your previous post:  I've been thinking about Iron Butterfly a lot lately.  My 20-year-old daughter likes various kinds of metal, both older and current.  I told her, "You have got to listen to Iron Butterfly; they were the ancestors of all metal."  She said, "You mean they had music like that way back then?"

I feel really old...

I definitely remember Vanilla Fudge.  Still probing my gray matter for Illusion.
Got my daughter to download some oldies for my cell phone.  Using Chicago's
"Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" for my ringtone.  Also have Deep
Purple's "Smoke on the Water", Buffalo Springfield"s "For What It's Worth", Moody
Blues' "Ride Captain Ride", Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's "Ohio", and my all-time
favorite, Eric Burdon and WAR's "Spill the Wine".  It was a great time.  Great music.

Another song in my head.  Maybe it will be in your's, too.   Tongue

"Children behave!" that's what
They say when we're together.
And watch how you play.
They don't understand, and so we're,

later........

thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump

Lookin' up the words and came across this blog:
