Apparently the face they used for the transplant came from a brain dead person. My family already knows my wishes on brain dead, DNR, living on tubes etc. I think I will add donating my "face" to the list. Never really thought about it before, but if this becomes more common (or even if it doesn't), the procedure really could help those so severely disfigured they don't go out in public and/or it really handicaps their ability to get along in life. I plan on being cremated, so might as well use whatever part of me that can help those still here, right?  Smiley

Just something to think about. Like I said, never occurred to me before. My eyes could provide sight w/glasses, who knows about my organs when the time comes, but my skin is in pretty good condition (along with all the nerves etc), especially since I'm not a sun baby even though I grew up in CA. Thoughts?

I agree, why not its not like we will need any parts after death. If it can help someone,or help find a cure for something I say go ahead & take it. For that matter if they need the whole body for medical students, thats fine also.

Well - YES, I'd donate any part of me to someone who could use it if and when I no longr need it --- but it's hard for me to imagine someone would actually want my face  Grin Grin

And wouldn't it be great for those who are so severly burned?
