When I dropped Smoggy off at the vet the other morning there was this spectacular cloud formation in front of the rising sun.

Great picture, Ned!  I was just thinking the other day that no one has yet started a thread on the Winter of 2015-2016.  But, at least here, it hasn't until recently even felt like Winter was here!  I am sure that will be changing big time very soon.  We have now had some cold spells, but fortunately no snow!   Wink

Be careful with the shoveling, too.  Heavy wet snow is a recipe for bad stuff.  Mandycat seems to be in the crosshairs, hopefully everyone keeps power!

The snow started here about 2 hours ago.  Still pretty light, but the worst is yet to come!   Sad  Not happy about the prospect of at least 2 feet of the stuff, but just praying that we keep power and we'll deal with the clean-up later!  I know I'm not the only one getting hit with this, so everyone please stay safe and warm.

Ned, what a great sky photo!

I'm hoping everyone stays safe and warm in this monster snowstorm with its cold temperatures. The news photos on the coast looked pretty intense. Even we were supposed to get a dusting, but we ended up only with light icing that vanished quickly. The wind took out our power last night but we still had some gas heat so we were OK. Power's back today, temps will be way below freezing but not nearly as extreme as temps other regions are getting. I don't have any pictures that are snow-related, but I do have one from December 19 of a sort of late fall landscape but is essentially winter here. I use pictures from brighter times to get myself through cold and gray days.

Hope everyone in the path of Jonas is safe and warm tonight.  We never lost power since the wind pretty much blew all of the snow off of the trees and powerlines.  But, there is a heck of a lot of snow out there to deal with!  Haven't heard a total in my immediate area since around dinnertime, but that was 22".  At the airport where the official record is kept for the Baltimore region, the total was 29.2" making this the official #1 snowstorm of all time in the Baltimore region.  Previous record was 26.8" in a storm in 2003.  I don't know where anyone is going to put all of this snow and it is not going to melt away anytime soon!   Undecided   Tongue

Glad to read about power staying on, hoping it's that way for everyone.

The trees are blooming really early this year. This is from last week.
