Gosh Leslie! I hope you are feeling better soon. That is really scary to have an infection like that. Many prayers that the antibiotics will work this time.

It's much better early in the day, after being elevated over night. By about 5 pm it's really painful. I'm taking extra Vit C, garlic & fish oil as an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory & blood thinner. I really don't want to go to the hospital !  Angry

I hope you're continuing to improve! I hate being in the hospital too, but sometimes they can knock an infection down really fast there...

I just don't want to end up with Mersa, pneumonia or flesh eating disease ! A port with shots or daily IV antibiotics at home or Dr's office will be safer. It's a little better today, either the drugs are kicking in or keeping it bandaged in an ace all day is helping.

leslie,
Hope it continues to improve each day!  I know that having your arm bandaged in this heat has to be uncomfortable.

Unfortunately the doxy isn't working. Went back to the DR yesterday & see the infectious disease Dr Friday morning. I feel fine, its just very stiff and painful & I keep getting swollen feet & hands. Hoping for a pic line & shots or IV at home !

Darn Leslie! I hope your doctor's appointment goes well tomorrow and they can get you on an antibiotic to clear this up.

Well I wish I could say I have a diagnosis & treatment, but I couldn't even get the blood work done. The Dr was great but felt it could be too many things & ordered many, many tests. Including a bartonella culture. Which apparently was too hard for the 4 labs I went to & the 5 I called. They were all out of culture kits. It's going to take a week & 1/2 for results & I will be lucky if I can get it done by Monday.
She said the pain & swelling could be blood clots, cellulitis or just an inflammatory response to the infection. It could also be a tick disease acting up from the infection. It has improved slightly with the doxy, but they don't want me to continue it until they get the culture results. So hopefully I will not get worse which is what happened the last time I went off the antibiotics. The only good news is if any clots remain they are small.
