Just wanted to pop in quickly and hope that nobody got any weird emails and no posts from a stranger on my id cos I didn't log out of my puter Wed am.

I got home early Wednesday around 5pm noted by utility room door open some and then saw my back door standing open, the burglar door & frame swinging freely. Sigh. I panicked and started calling my cats and looking around outside.

I ran inside and only saw 4 cats, they were skittish and couldn't find Ling. Like a maniac I ran around the house and outside. Finally looked under the bed and there was Ling hiding in the sheets that had been pulled down when they flipped the mattress. She was so terrified. When she saw me and my hand she flew to me for cuddling & then I cried as all of them were now huddled around me.

Then, I called the cops.  Seems only my computer system was stolen, the rest of the house only plundered.
I got hold of the internet to change my password and a friend to change another account. Sigh. My backdoor is screwed shut finally on Friday after finding someone who was working after the holiday. I slept 2 nights with both hearing aids on in the den holding a pen knife LOL.  The house next door had had the copper wiring taken off the furnace & a/c a couple of days before. sigh. I guess they know my schedule...


What the hey. As much as I hate losing the puter and the pictures I cannot replace.. nothing every looked so good at 5 cats sitting in a clump in the halldoor watching me and the police. The policeman loves cats and they knew it. when we went toward them they scattered &  Dollywad & Diva followed us and made sure he petted them. Ling rather have her mommie and Scooter & MK just watched from a safe corner.

I have to say I've really missed you all and will be piddling until things get replaced...
I hope nobody used my id too and bothered you all here or in email..

Offy thats horrible ! I'm so glad the cats were ok and didn't get out and lost ! What is wrong with people anymore ? When did the holidays become a time to steal from others ? Don't forget to change your id's & pins for all charge accts & stores you have used online. Your bank acct too. You may want to put a fraud alert on all the credit bureaus,that way if anyone tyries to open something in your name they will have to speak to you [at the # of your choice] first. If you notify 1,they notify all the others.May want to change your phone #'s too,they were probably in there somewhere also.

There had to be guardian angels looking after the cats!

They'd usually have snooped and went out the door. They always try. I guess they could tell that's where all the noise came from and something bad was out there. I had awful images in my head going in the open door I was so afraid the hateful human monsters had hurt them.

But, for sure, I'll never forget the look on Ling's face....and how she scooted to me soooo fast!

Man, what is wrong with people?? I'm so glad all cats are ok.
I've always worried about my pets whenever I have to leave, even
for just awhile.  Sorry you lost your computer and your peace of mind.
Hope you get them both back!  Hugs to you and your brave furkids.

Offy, it wasn't a good Thanksgiving for several of us. I am very greatful
your cats and you are okay. When your home is violated, it does strange
things even when you're not there. Please be good to yourself right now,
and try and not let it spook you. p.s., I have a .38, gives one
some confidence, although I never thought I'd own one.

Offy, I am so glad to hear your kitties are all okay...I am glad you are too....I am so afraid that with these bad economic times that more people will resort to this type of thing....desperate people do things like this---again...glad to hear it's just your puter...and I didn't get any wierd email!

Oh Offy, I truly know how you feel and am so thankful that you furkids are safe and unharmed.  Like the others have said,  you should consider putting a fraud alert out on your accounts.  It may be overkill, but something that shouldn't be taken lightly considering all the identity theft, credit card abuse, etc. going on. 

I've hardly slept since Thursday and know how that can take a toll. I hope you can things taken care of so that you can get some peace of mind and rest.

How horrible, Offy. I am so glad the kitties, and you, came through safely. I can echo Cato's thoughts here, I have never come to terms with "bad things happening to good people".

Crime has been increasing in our area too and we have thought about backing up all the computer files and keeping the backup in another location.

I also agree with Poco, this looks the work of practiced criminals, as does the robbery of Tesla's business. People who are "pure mean" and low down.
