Hey, one year I thought about hanging the tree from a plant hook on the ceiling high enough so they couldn't reach it - maybe you can try that one!

(that was the year I decided to hang decorations on the wall instead)

One year I went through two rolls of scotch tape retaping all the gifts.  Everytime I looked, the presents were chewed and half unwrapped.  Okay, maybe it was the kids really snooping and not my precious innocent kitties after all Grin ;DThere were chew marks and claw marks everywhere.  They had a REALLY good time that year.  After that, presents weren't pulled out of closets until the last minute.

I would hang my tree, but it already touches the ceiling once the topper is in place, so that one is out.  My SIL put up a tree one year and only put lights on the tree, no ornaments, so the cats would be less interested in the tree.  At the time, her two youngest cats were very lively kittens Grin

Sandi K, maybe you could put the tree in a bedroom/den area and shut the door at night.

Yeah Caylee, thats kind of where Im going with this right now too, the fake tree we have is not very big, sits on a table, so Im thinking I should be able to move it in a bedroom every night and shut the door.  That takes care of about 8 hours, now what about the other 16?    Grin

This is so funny.   Cheesy

One year we tried tying the fake tree top to a plant hanger. We had one cat who loved to climb the tree and knock it over.  That worked out for about half an hour, until the bottom half of the tree separated from the top half via a cat climbing the tree.  The rest of the time the cats would lay under the tree as soon as it was set up.  We usually don't put it up until the last minute.  Sometimes we don't put it up at all.   Presents go under the tree on Xmas morning, otherwise cats and dogs would rip them to shreds.  Sometimes we put up a small one in our bay window.  They always knock it down.

Two or three years ago, we bought a new "fake" tree, a really nice one, pre-lit, etc., etc.  Boy, it looked nice.  (I don't buy real trees)  So, after the holidays, DH decided he would donate it to a charity thrift shop along with some other items we had that were pretty new, rarely used.  To make a long story short, he accidentally donated the brand new tree instead.  He insisted he didn't do that, and we've scoured the house stem to stern many times.  No new tree.  I wondered if it was a dream, but I have photos of it.  LOL

OT, but we still using the "old" Charley Brown Xmas tree.

tesla..........you are quite the troublemaker   Wink  LOL

DH went positively boffo when he saw you house.
Gracious.....the man was drooling on my monitor.

Bless you.......it inspired him to rise from the couch and start his Christmas decorating, which is quite good, but NO comparison to yours.

Your home looks spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps I should also be grateful that he drools over your decorations as opposed to some types of magazines............LOL

tesla just love your house and I'm sure others driving by also. Once I'm able to remodel and put outlets where the lights would go I would do it up big time too. Love the decorations at christmas time.
