Well, in previous years, my electrici bill over the holidays was no more than that when the A/C is running full blast when the temps outside were about 100 degrees. However, each year, we have added more and more lights to the display, so this one might knock my socks off since we have added even more It takes on average four weeks from start to finish to put up. Believe it or not, it takes under two days to take down. By the time it needs to come down, I'm so ready for it to be over with, I set speed records tearing it down, labeling where everything goes for next year and putting it away. I like it to be completely down by the first of the year so I can start the new year off with a clear conscious. Besides, after having this up from the end of October through Christmas, I'm ready for it to be over. In the meantime, I enjoy it, but I especially get pleasure in the joy others get in viewing it, it makes it all worthwhile.

Simply amazing!! This looks like the kind of decorations they show on HGTV ~ I, too, wish I could see it in person. I'm thinking maybe I can have a tree this year with only one kitten. Thanks,Tesla, for sharing these marvelous pictures. They are certainly what I needed today!

Christmas lights and decor DO brighten up the season - and I think we need brightening up especially now.

LOL, Poco. Your DH just might have the right idea, sure a lot less work I love those rosemary bushes, I was thinking of getting one too! Actually, I don't have any intention of putting anything up on the inside. With two kittens, the Christmas tree is out, I use a fake one anyways, can't stand the thought of chopping down a living tree. Besides, after putting everything up outside, I don't have the energy to start on the inside. I know, poor little kittens deprived of their first Christmas tree experience

LOL Tesla, Sophers didnt have a tree last year on her first Christmas either. This year we are going to try it (our little fake tree) but it very well could end up locked away in the back room one day after we put it up. I'll tell you how it goes in case you need to make that 2 Christmases without a tree.

That could be an entire thread in itself - how to have a Christmas tree with cats in the house.
I gave up years ago, but not too sure if it's because of how much trouble it is to cat proof, because I'm getting too lazy, or because I'm getting too old! Now I throw a cheerful wreath on the front door and stop at that.

We have managed to have a tree every year, despite having our pack of cats, including when we had kittens, and our wild-man Linley. We decided early on that fake trees were the way to go (to eliminate the chewing-on and puking of pine needles.) But the trees, carefully decorated at first, look worse and worse as the season progresses. One trick we discovered is a bell ornament that will ring whenever the tree starts shaking--it has warned us in time to prevent "cat"astrophe on many occasions.
Sigh, now if I could just figure out a way to stop them from pulling the bows off the packages.

SandiK, it'll be OK. Just make sure the tree is non-toxic, bolted to the floor, all ornaments are plastic and safe to chew on, and since we're talking about Sophers here, maybe DON'T put the presents under the tree!
Hey, cat-proof wrapping paper and bows - great business idea.......

Oh great, LOL You know Im sitting here thinking what an idjut I am about to be, the minute the lights get turned off at bedtime, Sophers goes on the rampage. What am I thinking that a Christmas tree will be safe? Hallo, Earth to Sandi. Of course, I can always sleep out by the tree every night in a sleeping bag. Im not so sure this is worth it.
