A black eye for Google?
Resurfaced story raises questions on search technology; SEC looking into it

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- It has long been the popular term for lightning-speed Web searches. But could "Google" eventually come to mean stumbling accidentally and disastrously onto misleading reports and information?

One comment at the site says it all in my opinion:

I think Google is already synonymous with spyware, so I rarely use it.

I'm glad I'm not in the stockmarket at that level, because I've found websites that were very out of date and didn't notice either.  In this case it led to quite a mess, didn't it.  This is a big warning message for everyone to really watch sources and not take everything at face value.

Glad you mentioned the part about spyware in the article Mary. Would be nice to know of other search engines to use as I'm sure a lot of people do not have a clue what to key in to use for the URL.

I was quoting from the comment section, not the article itself, JJ. Just wanted to clarify.
I listed some links to other search engines here:

I think all the internet and computer venues that have very heavy public traffic become prime targets of the hackers and spammers.  More people to feed on unfortunately.  We did discuss a list of other search engines, I think in the Black Holes thread.  Google does bring back the most results and is the fastest though, so it will probably continue to be the favorite.

Mary I know you were quoting from the article and you had put the persons name who made the statement about spyware in your post. Didn't mean to make it sound like it was your words, lol.

Also appreciate your pointing to the thread where the search engines are and providing the link.
