The weather in this part of Texas was beautiful on Monday and yesterday.
A little gusty wind on Monday afternoon.  Not a drop of rain.  Glad catwoods
made it through ok.  And I sure am glad those levees held this time.  It looked
scary there for awhile.

rom6, what part of Texas are you in?  We didn't have any rain here either, just a couple of windy days.  At least it has been cooler than it had been.

Glad that so far everyone on itchmoforum have been spared.

Klondike, glad to hear your relatives are fine.  Thank heavens everyone seems to have made it through okay.

tesla, I'm about 80 miles southwest of Houston and 20 miles
from the gulf.  I seem to recall from one of your earlier posts
that you are near the hill country?

I'm glad things went well for you relatives, Klondike. I saw on the news there are still some flooded areas, places without power, and some damaged buildings.

Saying a prayer that the next hurricane dies down from a category 4 like Gustav did so everyone that had to leave won't need to again and can remain safe.

I want to thank everyone for your kind support about Gustav. You really never know which way these dang things will turn till the last minute, so I was somewhat nervous about it for awhile. Katrina had turned east and came through our town much weakened, but still with high winds that took down 500 trees, smashing houses, and downing power lines, which set one house on fire. Having everyone's good will and support here really did help to steady my nerves! As it was, we were fortunate and were on the way outer fringes of Gustav.

Still thinking of those who weren't so lucky with this storm, and others.

rom6, I'm an hour north of Austin, an hour south of Waco.  Wish I was closer to Austin and the benefits of more veterinary specialties, but at least I'm still close enough to be able to go to one when push comes to shove.  Wow, you are so close to the gulf that the storms can really be threatening.  Glad you haven't been bothered by any of the storms we've had so far this year.  Hopefully these other storms in the Atlanta doesn't cause anyone here on itchmo any grief.
