Isn't amazing how these little useless* furballs can wiggle their way under our skin and turn us into blubbering nuts?  Sleepless nights, nightmares, emergency vet visits, reading food labels, googling mystery ingredients, spending hours on hold waiting to talk to a pet food manufacturer about their products, at our own expense sending food in to be tested for contaminants, giving pills and shots, fluids...etc!  I shake my head knowing that I am right there with you.  Been there done that, will probably do it again.

Badness was bitten on the nose by a spider several years ago.  Poor thing, she was so sick for weeks.  Her body fought off the toxin though and the end of her nose fell off and grew back.  It healed into a lighter shade of pink.  But now, if I see a little something on her nose, I freak.  I just can't help but remember how close she came to not being with me anymore.  And yes, I have nightmares about it too.

Then there are the nightmares about losing Daisy or her being stolen from me.  UGH!

*And by useless I mean not showing any interest in household chores.

Why do cats always jump on your lap with their claws out?  Especially when you are wearing shorts?

I often have bad dreams where I have to "save" my cats from something.  Save them from eating the poisoned food, Save them from a fire, a tornado, a monster etc..  The weird thing is I not only have these dreams about saving my current kitties, but also my kitties who have passed on and cats that belong to friends and clients.  I have always had dreams like this to some extent, but they got much worse after the recalls of course.

Kaffe, You are so lucky to dream about seeing and talking to them at the bridge. Wish you could remember the secrets they tell you.
But Your nightmare ended good, so you love Kaffe enough to make sure He is safe.
I wonder if We are all just now suffering from Post tramatic Stress ? I really do. we are all stressed out and all of a sudden it has gotten worse for everyone. i know it gets worse for Me.
And Bridgett, All of a sudden in the last few months i could care less about the house cleaning and all of that. I don't like any of it anymore. And sometimes i could care less. About everything.
Stress will get us all.

I also dream of some of my pets who have crossed the Bridge.  But in my dreams, they are waiting patiently and quietly.  Sometimes, I am with them in the dream and they tell me secrets which I forget as soon as I wake up.  I just remember my sense of amazement

Wow that is so amazing. gave me goosebumps yet comforted me immensely at the same time. To know they are waiting for us is very comforting. Thanks for sharing this dream with us.

One of the most unforgettable and perplexing dreams I've had was one I had in Sydney, when my beloved Pezza was still with me.  I fell asleep on the sofa beside a sleeping Pezza.  I then dreamt that I was cat-size, for I saw and smelt everything from the perspective of a cat - even colors (or lack of).  In the dream, Pezza and I were running accross a field towards the open door of a barn.  When we got inside the barn, I remember looking up and seeing a spider on its web and Pezza telling me to leave it alone.  We heard a noise - someone opened the inside door to the barn and Pezza and I high-tailed it out accross a coral of horses.  I remember looking up at the huge creatures, their strong scent and dashing by their legs back to the field of tall grass.  When I remember this dream, I often think that for that one time, Pezza and I were in the same dream.  I mean, he and I were dreaming of the same thing.   Cheesy

Interesting that this thread is up now. I woke up this morning from a dream that I was being overrun by kittens ~ many, many kittens. I was chasing them around trying to catch them all and keep them safe, and even asked my daughter to make a poster board with pictures and names so I could keep them all straight in my mind.  No interpretation needed for this dream!!!  Wink

Yes, it will.  Things are bad right now.  Not just with our pets.  The economy and gas prices are eating away at us too.  It makes things with our pets worse.

For me, I am concentrating on taking care of the most important things, my pets.  I am still buying and cooking high quality food for my babes and will continue to do so.  I am not going to compromise the health of my pets for anyone or any government.  If I have to start riding my bike everyday to work and to run errands sobeit.

Kaffe, your dream with Pezza was a beautiful.

Hmmm, these dreams everyone is having are all very meaningful. In most of them, we are caregiver companions and are in the role of protectors and need to save our pets from something. However, in Kaffe's dream with Pezza, a dream I like too, she and the cat have become companions in a different way; Kaffe has joined Pezza's world entirely and experiences everything as if she was another cat. In that dream, Pezza protects Kaffe by warning her about the spider; and they run together from the intruder in the barn.

I'm not sure what that means other than that our pets also protect us. We all know this but may not think about it as often during a regular day, in which we are preoccupied with tasks protective towards them - feeding the best food, ensuring the box is clean, etc. Also it suggests that Kaffe can very easily imagine herself as "one of the cats" - although that could also be true of any of us, if only we could remember all of our dreams.

Looks like Catmom5+?'s dream is going to come true soon..... Grin

Catwoods:  hmmmm... that is a very intriguing "take" on the dream that shows our pets are protective of us too!  That is so true - they are!  I didn't think of that!

CatMom5:  The old folks say that a dream of baby-anythings (kittens, puppies, etc) usually herald "A NEW THING" in life, like a new project, a new situation, a new job, etc.  Of course, your new thing may be.... more kittens!!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I finally had a weired dream i can remember some of. Last night, of course.
I was going trick-or -treating with My kids. they were all little again. we took Easter baskets to put the candy in Huh
We were in Maine somehow, and We started out pretty good, getting candy. then i heard about this giant warehouse type of thing where you walk through and see all kinds of things, and also the kids get candy. We went there and i loved looking at all the merchandise, like huge lawn sales, and all kinds of rooms connected and going every which way. I guess the kids had to find the candy here and there. I put My basket down, yes, i had one too. There was so much to look at, and so many rooms. Then i lost, or couldn't remember where i left my basket. I had my purse in it, so i was so worried that i had lost My money and my license, my identity. i was terrified. I looked everywhere. I knew the kids couldn't get any more candy with Me looking around all the rooms like crazy. Then My brother and His wife and an old friend were in another place that i went into. It looked like a huge barn, with rafters. I had 6 cats there in the barn with Me. I think i had taken them with Me, and they just followed Me around. A bunch of them were on the rafters and i knew i couldn't get them down, and asked a friend that when they came down would she get them for Me? One cat didn't go up, He was large and not feeling well, and tired out, so i took him with Me. Somehow in all this i was also at a friends house in AL. who has a lot of cats. And on the road i kept getting lost and had to keep backtracking.
I never found my purse, no one seemed to want to help, the place was too big, and it was probably stolen they said.
I know i was dissapointed in everything. Except seeing My brother and his wife, who do live in Maine. I felt like i lost myself, and let the kids down. what a mess. then i woke up with a headache feeling really weired.
What's this all about? Hmmmmmmm Huh Huh

Not big on dream interpretation and hardly ever remember having dreams, but
since the pet food recalls, have reoccurring ones for sure. Bet you had no idea
how many of us have had these kinds of dreams when you started this thread, Kaffe ...

Quite a while ago, I had a very peculiar dream. I was about to go for a conference in France, so I had this dream that me, bf, and the cats are sitting on a hill in Corsica and looking at the moon. The moon was moving in a strange way, and I tried to explain that to him, but he kept interrupting me to tell me that of course it moves, it goes around the earth (he can be like that IRL, too Sad ). Then "moon" came really close, and it had all sort of antennas (like old fashioned TV antennas, satellite dishes etc.) sticking out of it and it turned out it was alien spaceship disguised s a moon. The aliens came out and they all looked like Hillary Clinton and asked to "borrow" my cats for some experiments, and then I woke up.

I've had some other bad dreams about cats, but not as memorable.

Trudy:  I have been re-reading your dream, which I beleive is your subconscious expressing itself.  I am no expert, but this is what I think it means:

Like all of us, you started off in life with many expectations, some defined, some not (the trick or treat basket - expectations; many rooms - many different possibilities in life - being with children - the sense of wonderment and adventure of youth).  You lost the basket, with your purse that contained what you think defines yourself and your core capabilities (ID - sense of identity; wallet - personal power to affect things).  You had six cats with you, symbolizing your "baggage" of responsibility... and there is alwasy something "imperfect" about your dependents - six is an imperfect number - 1 less than 7, which is the number of perfection.  You feel you cannot "rise up" to meet the imperfections of your dependents (the cats on the rafters and you cannot climb up to get them down).  The sick cat with you only emphasizes the "imperfection."  You kept getting lost, and back-tracking on the drive to wherever.

Conclusion:  I think your sub-conscious is telling you that you need to "center-down" now and regroup your personal and spiritual forces.  Define your goals and plan how to achieve them, so you do not get "lost."

We often have dreams of getting lost or losing something in times of stress and grief.  And since you dreamt this dream after you had lost Trouble, it is not surprising that your dream has a "I lost something and have lost my way" theme.
