I hope this is not considered too political.  But our very sustenance is at stake.  I am posting a link to a petition for any who are interested:

http://action.foodandwaterwatch.org/t/5915/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=392

Moving Forward on Food and Water

Clean, safe, affordable water is our priority and we are working to make sure it is a priority of the incoming administration.

Please join us in urging the [edited] transition team to:

-- Protect Our Food: End Food Industry Self-Policing. Consumers need strong standards and strong enforcement by government inspectors. The USDA must abandon attempts to let meat plants do their own inspections. The Food and Drug Administration needs new authority and resources to inspect food processing plants and should be reorganized so it can devote proper attention and inspection resources to imported foods.

-- Protect Our Oceans: Stop Ocean Fish Farms. Industrial fish farms can pose serious threats to ocean wildlife, fishing communities, and consumer health. Do not allow development of industrial fish farms in U.S. waters.

-- Protect Our Water: Fund our Water Systems. We support President-elect [edited]’s plan to increase federal funding for water and wastewater systems and to establish a national infrastructure investment bank. We urge that these funds should be available to only publicly owned and operated utilities.

Show the new government the public supports protecting our food, our water, our fish. Tell the [edited] transition team why you support Food & Water Watch's policy goals. Write now.
