The world has gone crazy, IMO. Wal-Mart worker dies after being bulldozed by bargain-hunting Black Friday shopping stampede By COLLEEN LONG | Associated Press Writer 3:37 PM EST, November 28, 2008 http://www.courant.com/business/sns-ap-wal-mart-death,0,6804448.story

I saw this story earlier today, too. People are insane. What so-called "bargain" is worth this? The story I saw said that a pregnant woman was among those trampled, too. Fortunately she and her unborn baby are doing OK.

This is so unreal that this person had to die because of some bargains? Sheesh. I know how a crowd can be as I once worked a part time job at Venture when it was still in business. I had over 20 people lined up at the jewelry counter all waiting in line to look at the jewelry. The other girl who was supposed to return after her break never came back. Well the crowd started to get impatient and asked how come there was no help and they were tired of waiting in line. I then asked them if they needed more help to please contact the customer service desk. It wasn't until someone in the line did that did the store send me any help. I always think that it could have turned ugly if they had to wait too much longer.
Always wondered if material things meant more to some than the value of family, good friends and health.

This is all so crazy, insane and so not worth someone's life. The poor poor man, and his family. My daughter went to work at 4:00, because they open at 5:00 [At Wal Mart] . But they stayed open all night, so no one would be pushing and shoving. and KMart gave everyone a number so they had to come in that way. I wonder how the people feel killing an innocent man because of something so material? How can they live with themselves? There were fights that broke out today at both Wal Mart and Ollies. big fights. It's just so stupid, and senseless. This is not what Christmas is supposed to be .

This happened about a 1/2 hour away from me. I am sick to my stomach.
The police are reviewing the video tapes in the hopes of identifying the ones who broke down the metal doors of the store. Many police were injured and shoppers refused to leave to let the police investigate.
Walfart reopened it's doors at 4 pm EST.

Both of those stories make me ill. The visual on tonight's news that accompanied the Wal*Mart story showed lines of people with their shopping carts stuffed to the gills with cr*p. Is a human life not worth the $100 saved on some LCD TV?

That's too close Peg. I was terrified at the first line- Wal Mart employer killed. Until I found out it wasn't My daughters place. But she did have a horrible day- she said people pushed and shoved and cussed at everyone, even Her. These kind of people need to get real about life.

Trudy, I am so glad your daughter is okay, but sorry she too had to endure such savage behavior. The true meaning of Christmas has really gone out the window since the "box stores" came to power.

Thanks, Peg. She just needed a job, like everyone else. Now, she's the manager of the toy department, so You can imagine what went on today. I wish she could find another job.

This sounds good to Me. I don't like to shop anyway. My DH and I were talking about how in the 60s&70s, when something like this was going on everyone did it. we stuck together more. It seems that now, no one wants to get together on anything. don't rock the boat. Well, i love to rock the boat, that's how you get the attention you need.
