Such versatile decorating! You always come up with something that looks very hard to make with cake materials.

That is sooo weird about the spider mum. Just the other day, I was wondering if they would grow where I live because I like the white ones, so I called a garden center and they had the seeds for a variety of colors (mixed). Strangely, they are not actually called chrysanthemums here, they are actually asters (aster chinensis). So that's really cool that you made one for your cake. What are the odds.

Oh, I also picked up tubers for a couple of cactus dahlias (those would also look stunning on a cake).

My little babies, you'll always be in my heart. Mom will see you later. Look after each other, ok?

Can you believe he has already eaten the previous one? Argh.

A quick no-bake tofu "cheesecake" with fresh fruit, decorated with spun sugar.

Wow! The intense red accents against the other colors work very well.

Okay, so I've been searching around the local shops for weeks now trying to find liquid glucose for the last recipe that you gave me for the fondant.  I still haven't found any.  Do you order it or can you find it locally?  I will order it if needed.  I found the marshmallow fondant sticky and often difficult to work with since we have hotter temps and high humidity.  Thanks for any input!

Absolutely love the butterfly cake, but I've always loved butterflies!  I showed DH and my sons and they are just amazed at your creations.  My youngest thought it was plastic since everything looks so real.....just stunning! Cheesy

Can you find corn syrup? It is a good replacement for liquid glucose.

As for hot and humid weather, I know what that feels like, HK is like that, too. Normally when I decorate I turn on the aircon down to 19C and since it is blowing directly over my working area on kitchen counter it is manageable to work with fondant and gumpaste. More icing sugar also helps. Have you considered trying chocolate clay covering? It is sensitive to temperature, but humidity is no problem. T

Thanks Alek0, corn syrup is something I can easily find!

No, I have never used chocolate clay covering.  I will google it and see if I can find a recipe and try it, too.  Thanks for the ideas, I so appreciate it!

This weekend's dessert, green tea-lemon-dark chocolate cake, decorated with a gumpaste passion flower.

Very festive the flower and reminds one that spring is just around the corner once the sun shines and the rain stops.  Smiley

ONe quick tropical cake, no time to decorate properly:

Lemon sponge, orange marmalade, vanilla pastry cream, passion fruit jelly (made with agar) with fresh fruit pieces (bananas, mango, pineapple), more passion fruit jelly but without fruit on the top, mirror glaze for better shine, coconut on the sides, gumpaste cosmos in the middle.
