My brother was admitted to the hospital yesterday, he couldn't breath. His lungs are very bad and he has a heart condition. I haven't been able to go down to see him for two years because Socks was so ill last year. So if you could spare a thought I'd really appreciate it.

Have you had any news on your brother today, Judy? I hope you are able to talk to him, or better yet, go visit him. Prayers to both of you that he is able to pull out of this downturn in his health.

Judy will say a prayer your brother is able to overcome this heart issue. A good friend of mine, his mom also has a heart condition and has managed so far with meds and inhalers and maybe your brother will be able to be helped with meds too. Let us know how he is doing when you are able.

Thanks everyone I spoke to him on the phone this morning. I am very worried and I still don't know what to do. He is basicly the only relative I am in contact with.
Socks is under a lot of stress because I finally had my new windows put in three weeks ago and they brought the wrong windows. So the factory had to make a new one and it finally came last week. So poor Socks had to stay at the vet for three days. I am not comfortable leaving her because she only comes to me.
So here are my choices leave her home and have a petsitter come in and feed once a day. No pills and once a day? Or take her to the vet to board and she won't eat at all there. This is why I haven't gone to Pennsylvania before. I can't drive that far so I would have to take an expensive plane or the train (18 hours). Actually the last time I flew it took 12 hours to get there (400 miles).
I think I will have to go soon I want to see my brother. I'm going to call him again later and see how he is.
Thanks Judy

I am so sorry to hear that your brother is hspitalized. I shall pray for his improvement.
About Socks --- if that was my kitty, I would never board if I have the option for a DEPENDABLE pet sitter who will come in to feed and to clean litter box. Even if you're not around, I really really think that the cat will be much better off in familiar surroundings.

Sending prayers and best wishes for your brother Judy. Sending you prayers and strength to help your brother. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}
Great suggestion from Poco. Ask the vet if a tech can come to your house to care for Socks. That way too, she's in her own home, will be fed and the tech can also give Socks her meds too.

Judy, Sorry to hear that your brother is ill. Prayers for improvement for him. I can appreciate how much you would like to see him at this time. I agree with those who said that it would be best for Socks to stay in her own home. But, I also agree that you should look for someone who can give meds and maybe even come twice a day instead of once. Socks has come so far and I wouldn't want to risk setting her back because of not being able to get her meds. If that is not possible, then being at the vets might be better for that reason. If she isn't eating well, they could also deal with that by hand feeding or appetite stimulants or syringe feeding. At least there would be more constant care available there, and knowing her medical history, I am sure that they can be reminded to be vigilant about monitoring whether she is eating and addressing the problem. It is a difficult decision under these circumstances, but I hope you can find a solution that is best for both you and for Socks.

Yes! The vet tech home visits sounds like the very thing for little Socks!

I talked to my brother again he is breathing better.
The vet tech things sounds great but I don't think any of the techs do that. I used a pet sitting service in the past and they are able to give pills the problem is Socks will hide under the bed when a stranger comes in the door. Last year when I got a new air conditioner she had trouble breathing and had to be put in oxygen. I will ask at the vet again though.
Thanks again for all the good thoughts and the great ideas.
I'm going to see how the weekend plays out.
Judy
