I hope that it doesn't come to having newbies have to have sponsors.  I really appreciate this forum and stumbled on it while trying to locate information on cats with brain tumors.  I think it would discourage many people from joining.  I read this forum for over a month before I ever posted.  It was so informative and from what I experienced was people coming together being supportive of one another and sharing experiences and even helping locate information that could help their fellow pet owners.  There was a sincere compassion and concern for each other and their animals.

I cannot express the gratitude I have for this forum for getting me through two losses in a matter of a month and a half.  I have met some wonderful people and I would hate it if others don't get to share this experience just because a "FEW" have ruined it for the many.
There's a wealth of information on this forum that helps so many people in more ways than just one.  It also continues to help educate people of the main issue that created this forum, pet food issues.  I appreciated just being informed of the latest pet food recalls that I may not have discovered until much later if it wasn't for this forum, such as the marsfood.  I know many people that feed Pedigree and I quickly contacted them to make them aware of the recall.

So as a fairly "new" member I just want to tell you THANK YOU for the job you do and providing us with this forum.

I have to agree with MarySmith & Mandycat about the newbies. Many are sent here by someone else,or find us in a search. Most come here because of a problem & if its too hard for them to find what they need their pets could end up eating unsafe food.Or have a dangerous condition go untreated. Not worth it, besides we need new ideas and information to keep growing and learning.A lot of the newer problems with foods and products have come to our attention through newbies.I think the limited pms for newbies is working fairly well to control spammers.

With the new tools at the Moderators disposal that should suffice to weed out the problem one(s) that just don't know when to give it up and stop. One more thing is the posting either here or on a new thread with the problem ones nic name and why they are no longer welcome. That in itself should be deterrent to many who may harbor the thought of disruption and make new members feel that we truly care about our pets and others pets to want to seek information here and join in-because you never know- their information might just turn out to be invaluable also to add to all the wealth already here.
