We've had some really big frogs and toads here & at Mil's this year. There's a very large toad making beds in the potted plants on my deck.Don't think I will get a pic,he takes off whenever I get near him.

Catbird, the pictures of your little visitor are a very welcome pleasure today. You have great detail in those photos.
Leslie, I always enjoy reading news of frogs and toads, too.
They are some of my favorite summertime critters.

Catbird, neat picture of your visitor. I have one living in one of my flower pots. He's getting really big with all the mosquitos he has available to eat!

Tesla, and everyone who is seeing frogs and toads, I'm happy to read this. But I also have to complain, Hey, unfair! I haven't seen any yet this year! It's only a matter of time, it rains so much I hear tons of frog voices out there....

Had a turkey inside the dog yard for hours yesterday ! She couldn't figure out how to get out,so I opened the gate & chased her out. She has decided to live in mine & Marsha's yards .I got a pic, will try to put it on later. You all know how bad I am at that though.

LOL, a turkey? How funny Are there many wild turkeys around your area? After several years of drought here, we are SO green. Unfortunately it's because we've had storms that have produced tornado warnings nearby for 10 days in a row I've had to be driving in the affected areas a couple of times....very Wizard of Oz moments. I was very happy to get out from under those clouds. It was spooky. The mosquito has arrived here, too. Yuck.

Yes we have turkey, foxes, bears, deer & supposedly coyotes [I've never seen bears or coyotes]. Our weather has been terrible also, its either cold & windy, bad storms or 90's & humid. Hope this isn't a bad tornado & hurricane season, its not starting well.

Turkeys, very cool! I love to see them but haven't for years. We used to see foxes, too, but we don't see them any more. I've seen coyotes once, and we do see deer at times. To my great relief, there are not supposed to be any bears in my area.
We have had some recent severe storm alerts, whereas usually they are over by now. Those clouds are sinister, for sure.
Also forming clouds, swarms of mosquitos, yikes. Fire ants will soon be around. And it's hot as blazes.

I see 2 small feral pigs every morning on my way to work. Also have a family living behind my backyard fence! I see geckos & small lizards every day. Also LOTS of Hawaiian cardinals. (They look like regular cardinals but a little smaller & much less shy!) And of course, the ever present mongooses. They're like squirrels here.

We have wild turkeys here in the city where I live. They have something against mail carriers, especially the little trucks they drive, and when the males get their dander up, they chase the mail carriers. Many people feel the mosquito should be declared our state bird, since it is so abundant. That's why I like the frogs and toads. I've seen frogs shoot down mosquitoes from the air.

I'm always happy when the dragonflies come to live in my front yard. I have bushes they like and plenty of mosquitoes living in them. Yum!

Last night, I heard the first kaydids of the summer. And the fan is pulling in the gardenia scent on the cool night air....

Oh, finally, my Miss Kim lilacs are blooming and their scent is wonderful. I can't wait for the Japanese tree lilacs to bloom in the bay. The scent is intoxicating.
