I spent part of the afternoon watching a litter of 4 baby grey squirrels, who have been playing in one of the big trees in my yard. The youngsters don't like to get very far apart yet, and it's very comical to see them following each other in a single-file line up or down the tree branches. I think they've just been leaving the nest for a few days--they seem a little less skilled at climbing than the other squirrels here. In the warm mid-afternoon, they crashed in the nest for a nap after all that exercise.

The Sounds of Summer are here!
The "Ice Cream Man" was just circling the neighborhood with his music box van filled with goodies that all children love to beg for. An entire family went out to greet him today. I just sat and smiled as I watched from the window.
Hugs
I just made myself a Root Beer Float from things already on hand. They were a lot cheaper to buy than a float from the "Ice Cream Man"! Malts are way more expensive from him then if you bought one from the DQ down the road! Hugs

Squirrels are so much fun! I watch them too but only get to see the adults. Way cool to get glimpses of the babies.

Yes, it's summer here, too. the ticks are going crazy, and my hummingbirds came back today. they must have wondered where I was? Or at least where was the food? now, the heat is coming, and the hurricane season. My first year in a trailor in hurricane season. This will be the first time i might ever think of evacuating. It's really weired- The fleas love my husband and the ticks just love me. I guess the stupid ants love us all.

Trudy how big is your mobile home? Mine is two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen/living room one big room combined. I know you have central air cause without it you can't live in a mobile home. Window units just aren't enough. Hoping your settling in nicely inspite of the 'bugs'.

I just want to thank any of you who live down south in Georgia for having ancestors who discovered the Vidalia onion and for farmers who continue to grow it. This is the best onion on the planet and who knew it was a registered and regulated product? I wanted to grow my own but discovered that it just can't be done. Long live the Vidalia onion -- I just wish it was available here for more than a couple of months http://www.vidaliaonion.org/

JJ, it's small. but it has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a big laundry room, a kitchen, living room, and couple of good sized closets. Yes, central air and heat.

I ordered a package of them delivered to my mom's house for Mom's day and was that ever a hit!!! I ordered a box of them for myself too just to be sure they were good (you know, looking out for my mom ) I'm happy to report they were VERY good!! I've been carmelizing and then adding squash, eating them raw on salads. I think the farm was Morris farms but I'd have to check to make sure that was the name. Rikki

Rikki Doubt that farmer would ship to Canada . I just keep buying them every time I go shopping. I might try caramelizing some and freezing to see if they retain their flavour and texture. On another note, tomorrow will be the first warm, summer-like day all year. I hope they don't revise the forecast. My poor plants need some sun and heat.

Today was a perfect June day--blue sky, white fluffy clouds, nice breeze. The sun was quite hot, and a little visitor to the garden sought the cool shade. While he sat there, I thought I'd take his picture: He (or she) may look big in that photo above, but really, he's not. This picture shows how small he really is: Note the rim of the flower pot and the maple seed for scale. While I was watching, he slurped up an ant. But his tongue moved too fast for me to photograph that!
