DB-I worry about that every year. My houseplants have gotten so big they block the windows,so I always have lights on them & all the overheads on. A few times we've noticed a chopper hovering.Guess after seeing the 13' orange tree,10' ficus,7'wide peace lily, etc on the deck;they figured that was what the lights are for. Grin

I cannot imagine what would happen if there was mass-poisoning of athletes and tourists (from eating tainted Chinese meals) during the Olympics!  Oh, the Chinese gov't will get an international flogging!  They gotta wake up to themselves - this is serious!

I have them under a grow-lux bulb.

Just a caution to everyone who is starting seedlings under grow lights. The electric companies monitor electric usage and the DEA monitors that. If you have a huge increase over last year they MAY come to your home to see if you are growing pot. That is one of the ways they catch the indoor pot growers.

REMEMBER, they don't need a warrant for this, the increased electric usage is PROBABLE CAUSE, and they can and have entered homes to look for illegal drugs.

I bought energy saver bulbs for the other lamps.   Shocked I hope it balances out.  Maybe I'll just invite the DEA in for fresh veggies.  Grin

Heard about this some years ago, some major news network did a report on it. The DEA can and has come into homes without a warrant because the increase of power becomes probably cause. I know this is off this topic but thought I would warn everyone. I think starting seedlings and gardens are a great idea, we do it here just have to be careful. Just like if you were to withdraw $10,000 dollars from your account OR pay for something with over $10,000 that is also an indicator to the DEA of drug money. Usually have to fill out a special form to do either.

I used to think that anyone doing anything weird was weird. I suddenly realized that anyone doing anything weird wasn't weird at all and it was the people saying they were weird that were weird.

Maybe this explains some of the odd that have happened to me!   Grin  I have had a big 4-foot long, 3-tier setup of fluorescent grow lights in my family room for a long time.  I have used it for everything from tomato seedlings to herbs to African violets to annuals for my garden.  I did not use it the last few years, but was thinking of starting up again if I expanded my garden in the spring.  Of course anyone can see right into the room when the curtains are open.

I'll be right there on "the list" with you, straybaby, lesliek, and Suelovescats!  BTW, you need an awful lot of light power to get tomato plants to blossom under lights.  Most setups just won't do it.  You would also have to hand-pollinate them to get actual tomatoes.

menusux maybe they will be offered jobs as food taste testers. That would be fitting for them all, wouldn't it IMO.
