Thank you, catbird!  These were all hand-held pics.  I was pretty surprised that they weren't blurry.

Beautiful pictures, Fizzy!  You must have one powerful zoom on your camera to get such a fantastic picture of the moon!  Thanks for sharing!   Smiley

Thanks, Mandy!  I found a good zoom on ebay at a price I couldn't pass up.  But a word of caution, I was naive!  It's true that if it's sounds too good to be true, yada yada . . .  I discovered after I ordered it that it was probably Gray Market, which means no warranty service by the manufacturer.  So as long as it doesn't break, I'm good!  lol

Gorgeous!  I love roses!  Those are really sharp and clear pictures for a phone!  You just seem to have the perfect eye for compostion regardless of the kind of camera.

That iPhone takes pretty good pictures! I've been toying with the idea of getting one since I use my iPod a lot, but boy are they pricey!

Love the pics of the sunset and that moon shot is great! You got a nice lens even if it is a gray market one. I splurged and got a nifty fifty for my Canon and it takes wonderful photos.

I waited until Target had the iPhone on sale, and I had some Target gift cards I could use.  That helped!

I was wanting the Canon sx50!  They are nice!  But I settled for the 40 and it's great, too.

Fizzy, Taggy is just shocked to learn that the moon is not made of green cheese!  Grin You must have the steadiest hands.  My camera has zoom, but it really does not like me using it -- the little "hand-shake" icons starts yelling at me.  Fabulous pictures!

Such amazing pictures - the composition - down to you - is amazing.
But the clarity is so good - please tell me what make/model of camera you have?  I'm thinking about treating myself to a proper digital camera but am rather daunted at the choice out there and dont really know even what range to look at....

LOL, GKit!  Tell Taggy I'm so sorry to disappoint. Cheesy  And you know what?  I get that annoying "hand-shake" icon all the time, too.  I ignore it and click away.  One tip I found that has helped is to use the 2 second self-timer.  Any movement caused by your clicking has dissipated by then.  Of course, I still manage to get many blurry pics!  Grin

JoMax, thank you!  I used a Canon PowerShot SX40 (40x zoom) for these pics, except for the roses which were with my iPhone 5s.  I also have a Canon SX260 which has a 20x zoom.  I think both of them are worth having.  The SX260 fits in my pocket, and the SX40 is bigger and bulkier.  We are really impressed with it, though.  There is a newer version, SX50, with an even greater zoom that gets rave reviews from most people.

I've seen debates online regarding zoom cameras.  Professional photographers look down on them, but they're really great for getting birds and wildlife close-ups.

This website is very helpful!  http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=b2ead2ac4044571f124c5ea7f0fc7387&f=15

I'd love to hear what you end up with, and to see some pictures of England.  Hint hint!  Wink

A rainstorm last night cleared the air and everything smelled so sweet this morning.  The birds were in full concert.  I would have joined them, but I didn't think they would appreciate it. Cheesy
