THANK YOU for this thread .... I have been reading with   often from not being able to find where some things came from.... Rice was hard actually the health food store had the LEAST US grown |

A lot more people must be asking for safer foods. All 4 of our local grocery stores are now carrying the Lundberg rice.They have all added freezers for dog & cat food too. Today I was looking for salmon, & Shoprite[always from China before] had US & Canadian.I am seeing more things local &/or organic in all of them. Two are marking their ground products as only ground in store from their own products. Also the local Amish market is now selling their own ground & cooked meat for pet food. $1.99 a lb. A friend got some & her dog went nuts for it. I will check ingredients Thurs or Fri. They are only open 3 days a week.

lesliek glad you also have Amish food that is in your stores. The one local I have carries their chicken which is raised, grown, processed and fed all from the farm in Indiana. Nothing in the food from other places, no antibiotics or any growth hormes which is so nice to know whats in the meat before buying it.

I went to the Amish market today & bought a small container of their pet food. The dogs loved it,cats haven't tried it yet.Its from the chicken & beef vender, they serve cooked food for takeout. Bbq chicken,roast & gravy etc. , all from their own meats. They decided since so many people were looking for inexpensive safe meats for pets, they would start grinding all of the last weekends unsold prepared foods. It includes bones,all cooked & ground & then put the thru hamburger machine. It was $1.10 a lb & this weeks was mostly bbq & rotisserie chicken. If any of you have that type of market you should ask them about doing it also.They are not adding anything else,so it will still need some supplements or veggies etc added.It will be a nice backup in the freezer in case I am low on food & don't have time to cook that day.

Good link if you live close and can pick-up the beef. Shipping costs are very high. If your order is 10 lbs it will cost you $51.51 plus the cost of what you order. Sigh, wish I lived close by.....

I thought that too then remembered ... THE farmers market.. I have two cards to organic ranchers in my area and the local health food store in the next town I shop at has a organic/ natural butcher... check out the local health food store if they dont have maybe they can locate |

sharky I can go to Whole Foods and buy grass-fed beef but it is very expensive. Try to shop there at least once a month and buy what is on sale as far as beef but for the most part have sorta given up eating beef as well as feeding it to my dog. After Aug. should be able to shop there twice a month and then I'll be better able to catch more on sale.

Does anyone know where I can get 100% American sourced and made vitamins?? With cold season coming, I figured it best to start taking the multi-vitamins, but I'm afraid to take the ones I have (generic).  |

Every company I called said they imported their vitamin ingredients, but that they were subjected to the highest quality control standards in-house. Honestly, I think you would be better off eating an organic, whole-food diet. The vitamins are much better absorbed and often occur with other nutrients that complement absorption and without others that hinder it. That's just my non-professional opinion.
