O.K. SO BLAST NUTRO ALL YOU WANT.  AND YES EVERYONE IS TRYING TO FIND A PROBLEM WITH EVERYTHING BUT THE FOOD STOPED AT CUSTOMS IS EXACTLY WHAT NUTRO SAID.  THE FOOD IS RECALLED, IT NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT INTO THIS COUNTRY TO BE DISTROYED BY NUTRO BECAUSE THEY DO NOT TRUST ANYONE ELSE TO DO IT.  US WILL NOT LET IT INTO THE COUNTRY AND WANT IT DISTROYED IN FRONT OF THEM ,BUT NUTRO CAN NOT GET IT INTO THE COUNTRY TO DO SO.  CATCH 22.  WE ALL WANT OUR FOOD TO BE SAFE BUT LETS STOP AND THINK BEFORE THE WITCH HUNT.

We should be happy that it took them a month to explain? Sounds like another idiot pet food company to me.

IT MAY TAKE ME A WHILE TO EXPLAIN AS WELL.  IF I WERE A FOOD COMPANY THESE DAYS I WOULD HAVE ALL THE INFO, ALL THE I'S DOTED AND T'S CROSSED BEFORE SAYING ANYTHING.  EVERYONE IS OUT TO CATCH THE NEXT BAD GUY POISONING OUR ANIMALS.  I RESPECT NUTRO FOR WANTING TO BRING THE FOOD BACK TO THE STATES TO DISTROY INSTEAD OF ALLOWING SOMEONE ELSE DO IT.  A LITTLE COMMON SENSE GOES A LONG WAY IN FIGURING OUT WHO IS DOING THE WRONG THING AND WHO IS NOT.

And how, pray tell, does all this "hot info" as well as the fact that NURTO does not trust anyone else to destroy the poison get to be had by Jennifer?

Could sweet oh so innocent Jenny work for Nurto?

DON'T IMPLY SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.  I HAPPEN TO WORK FOR A PET STORE THAT NOT ONLY SELLS NUTRO BUT ALSO 8 OUT OF 10 FOODS LISTED BY THE WHOLE DOG JOURNAL AS THE BEST TO FEED YOUR PET.  I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON DOG FOOD AND I ALSO HAVE THE ABILITY TO TALK TO A TON OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY.  INSTEAD OF ACCUSING MAYBE YOU HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS ON OTHER FOODS THAT I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP WITH (IF YOU ARE SO CONCERNED)  MY POSTING WAS MENT TO INFORM AND PUT SOME MINDS AT EASE.

Jennifer212

Welcome to the board.

Since you are new here you may not know that it is impolite to use all capital letters, that is the equivalent of shouting. It also makes it hard to read.

thank you

I guess it's Nutro's style.  It took them over a month to announce their crap was poison in the first place.   I guess poor little Nutro is another ChemNutra-Chinese victim. So Jennifer works at a pet store.  Great idea, girl. Scream at the people who are the customers of pet stores.  Nutro killed animals.  Why would we trust them? Thousands of dead animals mean we won't.

Hi Jennifer,

You see, we have over a thousand members here, not to mention nonmembers, and we are just the tip of the iceberg.  A very, very conservative estimate would be that we lost over 100,000 cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies from foods that contained poison that we fed to our precious babies.  Not to mention thousands more that are sick and may be sick for the rest of their lives.  Plus the fact that most of the companies who had poison food are not reimbursing people for their veterinary bills.  We're kind of grumpy here to put it mildly.  Now, if you came and politely opened up a dialogue, maybe there would be a decent discussion, maybe not.   We have no sympathy for these companies.  That's the way it is.

Oh, welcome to the forum.

I do not want to say I have all the answers all I know is that the food is being held by customs.  I also wanted to say how much Itchmo was able to help me with my customers and all the recalled food that kept comming in wave after wave.  I have had a number of customers dogs and cats that have gotten sick or worse.  Some of those being first timers after the recalls because they were just as confused as everyone else not knowing what food to turn to.  Imagine being on the front lines, the only face that alot of people could put to all of this.  At my store we learned fast to be ahead of the curve in informing our customers, trying to put there minds at ease, or sympathetic to a horrible problem that should not have happined in the first place.  At least our shelves were not stripped of food like most stores in our area since most that we stocked never had a problem.  It allowed us to help with choices but we were always on edge waiting for the other shoe to drop (which came in my opinion with natural balance and sensible choice rice protien concentrate).  Anyway I would like to take the time to thank Itchmo and all of it's members (which if they were not here this site would not be as well.)  I was and still am giving this site to anyone who it may help.

One other thing that may be of interest

Nutro has just bought another cannery so they have complete controll of their whole canned line (as you know the "loaf" formulas were not affected because they were canned exclusively by nutro)  If at this point anything were to go wrong it would lay in the hands of nutro alone.

Thank you, Jennifer, for another perspective.  I understand how overwhelming it could be.  You sound like you were more prepared than most of the pet shops.  Good for you.  We have a lot of people here looking for the truth.  I have always wondered what happens to the food that the customers return?  Do you mark the cans and bags in some way so they are not accidentally resold?  How does that work.  I returned some cans and I think I should have written on them with a magic marker before I returned them.

One thing you could do or mention to your customers is to sign up for Itchmo's recall notifications at http://www.itchmo.com/itchmos-pet-safety-alert-email-list/

All cans were to be marked thru the UPC with a red marker before returning to the distributer with pick ups once a week so the food was not in the store for very long.  This was the practice of our store and can not vouch for anyone else.  All future customer returns were handled the same way so they would not get confused with date codes that were o.k. though most company's chose to pull the whole line reguardless of date.
