I have a museum-era cell phone, but for those of you keeping up--

New Smartphone App Alerts Consumers to Food and Product Recall Info, Allows Reporting of Questionable Items

WASHINGTON, July 2, 2010 – Popular technology will now help Americans verify what they eat is safe. The U.S. Government's Products Recall app for the Android smartphone is now available at the revamped USA.gov website, and the apps for Blackberry and iPhone are soon to follow.
The app allows consumers to view the most recent recall press releases and any pictures associated with those products. Consumers can get information of specific interest to them using a feature on the app that searches recalled products by product name or category.

The app's "report incident" feature allows consumers to connect directly with their government to report concerns of unsafe products.

Spartycats I have a tracfone Grin.  It's handy to have for emergencies or if I want to make a call when I'm out and that's all I need.

I wonder if I'm a dinosaur but I do have wireless internet and a digital camera.

We wanted something simple - especially for my mother, in emergencies.  A while ago she called (on her land line) very upset because her cell phone wasn't working - she couldn't get a dial tone.   Cheesy

And I have AARP backed Consumer Cellular low cost dinosaur phone too for emergencies, thinking a netbook and laptop would cover it. Guess not.
This would be nice to have. Hey, wait a minute, Carry your netbook and use RSS while grocery shopping? Grin It's almost same size
as an iPad.

For those of us without fancy cell phones, but if you have mobile internet access through whatever device, could go to:
www.recalls.gov and check. Where did simple grocery shopping go?

Also check in the computer section of this site. Had posted apps you can download to your phone for recalls too.
