It's been a loooong time but I just found my link to this thread and thought I'd update  Smiley
Rocky-Road is still going well! She is always asking for food and is a little more sedate than she used to be, so we have to ration her 'lite' food, but otherwise is as happy as a kitty can be. She sleeps with her Kelpie dog Jodie at night, and moves from sunny spot to warm bed to CLEAN WASHING  Roll Eyes back to sunny spot throughout the day. She's still a bit of a terror for the little lizards in our garden, and had malicious thoughts about an escaped rabbit we caught and kept overnight recently. She's almost seven years old now, and we still think she's one of the luckiest cats on the planet!

Katdogs,
It's so good to get an update on Rocky.  I well remember her videos from 2008. May she have many many good days ahead.

This is just to let all my old friends on this board know...
Colette my blue point Siamese passed to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. She died in my arms after a seizure related to a particularly painful UTI.
She lasted five and a half years after being struck down. She never regained the use of her back legs and needed daily toileting and medication to keep her urine acid and her stools soft.
I don't quite know what I am going to do without her.
Caring for her was such a big part of my life.
I should like to thank everyone again for all their support during that hellish time in the early days and their fights on our behalf and their continued interest in the progress of all our cats in Australia.
Colette was special. (Well to me anyway) She was 10 at the time and as a senior cat faced real challenges in overcoming the damage. She never regained the use of her back legs and for a while she had a wheelchair but in later years wasn't really interested in it.
After her seizure I picked her up in her blankets and held her close, she reached out with her front paw and wrapped it round my upper arm as usual, looked into my eyes (by this time her eyes were blurry and "gone") then she nestled her head into my chest and drifted away.
It was perfect really, we didn't have to make that last journey and difficult decision (I was waiting for the vet to open, realising I could do no more, we had reached the end of the line).
I don't quite know what to do now.
Just thought you would like to be informed.
Thank you.
RIP Colette, my brave, wonderful little battler.

I am so sorry to hear of Colette's passing.  Cry She had a long hard fight after this horrible event. Perhaps it was her last gift to you, to go peacefully in your arms.  Cry

I am so very sorry that Colette has gone to the Rainbow Bridge.  She was such a feisty little fighter for so long.  You were blessed to have her for these extra five and half years, and she was blessed to have you to care for her so well and with so much love and devotion.  I know she will be missed so much, but now she is watching over you from the Bridge, well again and running with all of our angels who have gone before her.  She will be awaiting a joyful reunion some time in the future.  She knew she was loved, and I think she showed her love in return with her gentle gestures as she passed.  Rest in peace, sweet Angel Colette.  {{hugs}} for you.   Cry   Cry

Cry  I'm so very sorry to learn that Colette has lost her battle with what eating Orijen food did to her so many years ago.  Cry You and Colette fought a good fight for so many years. Reading about your loss has brought tears to my eyes. I only hope that this experience has taught the makers of pet food some lessons along the way and that pet food will one day be safe to feed without the pet owner having to research every little thing that is in the food we feed our dear pets.

Colette's Mother, I only hope that you will find a way to ease the pain that is in your heart right now.  Cry I'm so sorry for your loss.

Hugs

I'm sad to hear you lost Collette to one last battle related to her damaged health.  It's good that she was able to spend those last few minutes at home, in your arms, looking into your eyes and holding on to you.  Rest in peace, brave little girl.

I'm just now reading of Collette's passing. She was a fighter and you had some wonderful bonus time, although it is never enough. I'm glad that her passing was at home in your arms. It does sound as if she was ready to rest.
Godspeed Angel Collette
Peace and comfort to you, Cats Mother, as you grieve her passing.
