You may have read my posts elsewhere about trying to find a new food for my very Allergic cat. Today I took my requirement list into Mud Bay, a highly regarded local Pet Food Chain.

The one food they could find that met our requirements was one flavor of Evangers; Except that it has Menadione which has been banned by the FDA. (See here) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menadione

The store called Evangers while I was there. I was told that the Evangers employee took my concerns seriously, read the link above & was going to research it & call me back. That's already better then what we've seen from Natura (his current brand).

I'm looking for educated opinions of both the safety & quality of Evangers & of Menadione.

With his allergies (Seafood & at least some of the fruits/veggies/herbs) in many of the foods, our options are very limited.

One other point of interest:

Menadione was definitely listed as an ingredient on the can we checked at Mud Bay (I don't remember the flavor). However, I don't see it listed in the ingredients list for any of the Poultry cat canned foods on Evangers web site.

Glad they are calling you back. Someone had posted that Evangers had old labels that were still in use and supposed to not be using them anymore once they were all gone. I buy the organic canned dog food strictly as a supplement to my home cooking for my dog and she's doing exceptionally well. Shiny coat, bright, clear eyes, smiling disposition, good solid #2. This food fits my requirements for my dog so hope you will find it beneficial too.

I spoke with Joel Evanger, president of Evangers,  back in May while I was researching and he assured me that Menadione is no longer used in their products. I believed him and I hope this is correct as my dog gets 2 cans of Evanger's a week.

The can I saw yesterday definitely listed Menadione. I also hope they have discontinued it, if so I'll try the food. So far they haven't called me.

I feed their foods now since giving Ca Narural the boot but they ARE not ones to call back. You have to call back. Frankly,I would not buy the we used the old labels line. I would ask for NEW with the NEW labels on them foods
