http://www.adlawbyrequestlegacy.com/_db/_documents/NAD,_Nurtro_Products.pdf

Link to the 2007 Hill's/Nutro Challenge re: "Lite" food.

We've referred to this document many times because it details Nutro practices which were being used which were not in keeping with AAFCO definitions.  Not long ago, the link we had been using was changed.  A little work produced the new link for this information above.

To make sure we don't lose it again, a copy of this pdf is attached here.  Wink

I just purchased this today for Goose canned Nutro Complete Care Choice Adult Chicken Formula.  I had no clue this was recently recalled.

dyginge,
The food that was recalled was dry food not canned, so it is probably okay as far as the reason for the recall.  However, there are many people who, just on principal because of the past problems of this company, do not like this brand.  If you are feeding it successfully, it is your decision whether to continue.  Despite the negative reputation, there are probably thousands of people who have no problem with it.

There are also many people who dont like this pet food co, and its not just on principal for some, its because they have had a pet affected.  And after this cat food recall there were other problems including Barley for prohibited material, Bulk Ground Corn for prohibited material and Puppy Food for melted plastic hard hat, this one was not officially announced other than a blurb at their website if Im not mistaken.

Thanks for the replies, Mandycat and Sandi.  I have decided not to feed Goose this.  Actually I should not have purchased it in the first place, I was "desperate" to try a food that might help Goose gain some weight.  I've decided to try Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets, as Goose "may have" inflammatory bowel disease and I did see a testamonial by someone whose cat also has IBD and has gained weight, which is what I want for Goose.
