Hmmpf. I have been trying to find better choices in wet food and tried Nature's variety, venison. Cat doesn't like it. He wants friskies and well, I don't think it's that good for him. I tried ProPlan, and he gulped it down. I hope that it won't show up on the list.

I went to the Nature's variety site yesterday and they said they were not affected by this recall, but today their site was down. Has anyone had any luck with this food? The cat just won't touch it. I guess he isn't into wild game unless it's gofer or mouse.

NV website is up now, if you want to check again.  I give my two cats Nature's Variety Raw Rabbit medallions as part of their daily menu.  At first they did not care for it.  Then I pretended they were treats and offered bit to my cats from my hand.   Once my cats realized that it was food, they eat it now without a fuss - even my little kibble addict will eat it if I form it into little balls.  Most cats turn up their noses at food they do not recognize.  That's why I often mix in a little bit of the new food into the old food in the beginning.

I used to feed Nature's Variety dry, chicken flavor.  My cat liked it okay, but a while back I bought a bag and he wouldn't touch it.  I called the company and it turned out they changed the formula, but put it in the old bags.  The ingredents went from first ingredient chicken to chicken meal.  I then switched him to California Natural dry.

I haven't tried the raw or canned varieties.

Purchased two varieties of Nature's Variety canned cat food last week--very expensive-$1.68 a can.  Cat wouldn't touch either one.  Got a happy possum, tho!!! He (or she) is not picky at all.
