Hi,  I was doing some of my morning checking and I see a press release on Nutro's site dated 9-13-07.  I check that site (and a few others  Wink) most every day and I dont remember seeing it before.  This is what it says.  Can anyone explain to me what it means.  They seem more concerned in the UPC codes than saying how their product is now safer.....Whoever wrote this needs to find a new job....:  Does anyone else remember seeing this at their site?  its dated 9-13 but I have been there lots since 9-13 and never saw it...... Undecided Huh

Nutro Products Cans and Pouches Are Again Available!

City of Industry, CA (Sept 13, 2007) — Nutro’s cans and pouches are again becoming available in Pet Specialty stores across North America and internationally!

New UPC codes have been assigned to the can and pouch product lines that were part of the Menu Foods recall earlier this year. All pouch packaging has been stickered with the new UPC codes prior to filling with product, and all newly filled pouches have an inkjet message of ‘QA OK’ next to the date code which confirms that these products have undergone Nutro’s extensive quality assurance verification checks.

All Nutro products are tested by independent labs to confirm that no melamine is detected in Nutro’s pet foods. We have incorporated this testing into our standard Quality Assurance procedures for all finished products and specific ingredients.

Pet owners can feel confident in our products and contact us directly with questions.  For more information about Nutro’s pet foods or for answers to any questions you may have, please contact Nutro’s Customer Service representatives at 1-800-833-5330, or visit our Web site at (www.nutroproducts.com).

Since the May 2007 article that the Chinese had added cyanuric acid for years and some pet foods tested positive for cyanuric acid but showed no melamine -
does anyone see where Nutro says they test for cyanuric acid?

Offy---thanks for the link---I didn't have that article by Barboza already---I do now. Wink

One would think that IF the melamine has been going on without the same consequences as last year's disaster, then MAYBE additional contaminantes were newly entered-----i.e.---cyanuric acid, apap, aminopterin ---

and maybe that is what we need to rethink?  If the CA was a by-product of the melamine then why did it not cause such problems before??    My head has exploded lately so maybe I just need a refresher---please update me!!!

As Off points out---testing for CA needs to be made public-not just the melamine testing!
