sees major parallels between problems with pet food and human food.

Well, I am about a quarter the way through...I have to say alot of the beginning is the info alot of us here have been following since March 2007 and puts in a nice "order" of what, who and where.. She had trouble getting people to talk on the record so she does take alot of her info from the press and blogs...and the FDA pages...she has already cited itchmo.com (YEAH FOR BEN AND EMILY) and pet connection (YEAH GINA AND STAFF) and although alot of it is stuff I sadly already knew and lived through, I am hoping that for the pet owners and people not directly affected by this---they will start to realize they need to "make a difference".. I was recently at another blog where I am a new member and i posted Don's Nutro dog food results and it hardly grew any attention...and even aposter had said maybe if the melamine "rice gluten" had entered the human food supply things would change....since I am a newbie and don't want to be thrown out---I didn't post what I wanted...IT DID ENTER THE HUMAN FOOD SUPPLY..I do plan on posting with a link so they realize it.and the book reminds us all how...so I know that we here have been following this disaster from day one and there are so many good, loving, knowledgeable pet owners who really don't know what really happened...so I hope this book changes that...I did not follow the Diamond recall of years ago when I had a dog, Barkley, as I knew I did not feed him that food....at least at the time I didn't think so...I really never looked into it as the name Diamond was not familiar and he was not sick....so it is not intentional that alot of pet owners are not "caring" about this like us...maybe it is just like me with the Diamond recall... phew...all hepped up... I am off to get Murphy today so I won't read much more til later....I'll give you the updates if you like...although I wish it were fiction  |

ps...I did get the book from amazon cheaper than the first post...with shipping it was about 13.00... 16.00...money well spent!

I don't mind mailing it to people at all...it would be book rate and not that much and then the next reader could mail it on...it would be cheaper I hope..  ..so my offer is still good!!! My itchmo pals are all worth it!  I probably should make an apology now as I have a feeling my blood will boil again...last night it started to but I didn't post...but just in case you see some rantings from a lunatic...it is me...  |

After two three straight days of painting and climbing on ladders....I may just fit that label now!! edited as I thought today was Sunday...guess the fumes got me..... |

I finished the book and will be sending it off for another to read...but what really stood out for me and really made my jaw drop was the fact that during the pet food recall in March 2007 the FDA had only TWO full-time employees working on this....just might explain why my and anyone else's too many to count calls went unanswered that first week ... two, yes, two.....hard to believe huh?

What happens if you streamline, centralize and outsource food production with no goals other than profit? In the case of pet food, the system worked until it didn't. And when it didn't, thousands of dogs and cats died due to eating more than 100 brands of pet food contaminated with melamine and cyanuric acid. Like a dead canary used to alert miners of methane and carbon monoxide, our dead pets are a warning about our own food safety.
