AOL.com News published an article this morning with the title "Honeybee Die-Off Threatens U.S. Food Supply"

The article can be seen at http://tinyurl.com/29vuum.

I believe a blogger on this site wrote wondering about the possibility that Wheast (wheat + yeast) which is used as bee feed might have been contaminated with melamine.

I can no longer find that post, but would be interested in knowing more.  I think we all should be concerned about the plight of the honeybee.  (Hear background music: Flight of the Bumble Bee!)  LOL

Beth and Helen:  I finally found your posts from a few days back about the Wheast.  I did not want to copy your posts into this forum without your permission, but I invite you to post your info here.  I'm very interested in knowing what you may have found out.

Thank you!

"Give Bees a Chance -- Ban Genetically Engineered Crops"

That's a very scary scenario being suggested here, but sounds quite plausible.

So let's all do our part to help bees!  Check it out -

Orchard Mason Bees should be encouraged!  They're more effective pollinators than the honey bees and non-aggressive, so make yourself a bee house today!

Thanks, Mikken.  You lead me to some interesting reading.  That's something we all can do to help the bees.  And not to minimize the plight of the honey bee (and I've always been fond of them), but it is good to know that there are other bees out there too doing their jobs.  Here's something we all can do to help those bees.  If the honey bees don't survive this crisis, we will all need more of the other bees.

I read a few days ago that honey bees were originally imported to this country from Europe.  It made me wonder how plants got pollinated before they were brought here.  Maybe we will have to rely more on native-born species.  Looks like I've got more reading to do!

Hi, I remember the post, I also posted, Terrorism, think about it, many of the radicals are well trained college graduates, in the Sciences.

It is a virus , that kills off the eggs of the bees.

I also thought of Melamine and other contaminants.  Also, NASA  has released alot of contaminants in many states.  No government monitors their dumping practices.

I sent an email to a bee-keeping organization to ask if anyone has looked into the possibility of Wheast being contaminated with melamine, but so far no response.  I'll post their response here when (if) I get one.  I guess I'd just like to know if it is a reasonable possibility or not.  It sounds possible to me.

http://tinyurl.com/2hofu4  More on the disappearing honey bees and the impact this will have on our food supply.  Also includes more comments on our native bees.  Apparently we do not have enough native bees to do the job, plus some of them are also dwindling, for example, the bumble bee.

For more information on the honeybee problem please check out Chemtrails as they are full of nasty things they are spraying the sky everyday and in some places even at night. That drifts down and lands on everything including plants and flowers that bees pollinate. Two informative sites are: rense.com and rumor mill news (the reading room section). They both cover a lot of health related issues including the pet food recall and bee die off along with the spraying of our skies and air.

From what I've read, scientists think that cell phone signals are confusing bees, and thus they had difficulty making their way back to their hives.

In Europe they have linked genetically altered crops to the die off of honey bees.  Their ability to fight of diseases and fungi are compromised when they are exposed to genetically altered crops which are being phased out in Europe.  Europe has seen a massive die off starting in 2004.  The US scientists will never admit to this because there is too much money at stake.  Poisoning people, starving to death - makes no difference to them.  Wonder if one day they will have to eat their Dollar bills?  I hope they choke on them.

Albert Einstein quote: "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man."

Sad to report that I have received no replies to the emails I sent out to bee-keeping organizations.  I will keep trying to find something out on this subject, though.  Please feel free to post anything you may know or discover.  Thanks!

According to this most comprehensive look at the bee story to date (Please Lord, not the bees), the only bees affected are the so-called "super bees" pushed by breeders and the commercial pollination industry far past their natural size and rate of pollination.

Organic bees are not affected.

The article linked by Rose is the most interesting discussion I have read regarding CCD.  Since there is still no mention of contaminated feed, I would point out that since the exact cause of CCD has yet to be determined, and organic beekeepers are apparently not having a problem...I have to continue to wonder if the bee feed is contaminated.  Organic beekeepers would not be feeding imported wheast to their bees.  Of particular interest to me is that normal "raiders" of bee hives that can no longer defend themselves are not invading and eating the honey in the affected hives.  Why no mention of studies conducted on the honey?  What is wrong with the honey that other creatures won't eat it?  Can they smell the toxin the way many of our pets have been able to smell toxins in their food?  Why aren't they analyzing the honey? Huh
