That warehouse with the problem isn't distributing to New England per the list they had.  That may be somewhere on this thread.  You could try asking them at your local store.

I'm still going to buy it if it is available in my store.  So far I only see dry dog food (but not the CORE that I use).  The cases of canned are in shrink wrap.  The only dry I currently use is the CORE for dogs.  So, if they carry it, I'll inspect the bags first for any rips or odors.  Don't know what else to do.  I still have the feed store for back up.  I've been getting a lot on-line lately and am following the same procedure of checking.  Buying on line is really a crap shoot since you don't know what will show up until the delivery man arrives.  Huh

P.S.  I hadn't thought about cross-contamination issues.   Undecided

Well I went to Petco on Saturday and they had Wellness so I bought some but only after asking where the distribution center was.  I was shocked there were no Neuto reps hanging out in the store Shocked.  The only person I found was the clerk ringing up orders and looked clueless when I asked about the distribution center.  LOL she called the store manager who looked about 16 and he went to look it up (somewhere in Massachusetts).  I asked him if he was aware of the seizure and he said he was.

I sniffed all the food anyway but I bought a few cans of each flavor they had. It is nice to have a variety.

Judy,

What size cans did they have?   They only had a few of the 3 ounce and 5.5 ounce cans here in open cases, but they were still stocking.  I have to go back and check.  I do buy some of the smaller ones, too, to keep on hand for snacks.

(sorry, I'm asking everybody this.   Embarrassed )

They had both 3 and 5.5 ounce cans, didn't see the bigger ones, 6? flavors turkey, chicken, turkey & salmon, chicken & beef, herring & something Undecided, lobster & something.  Maybe one more flavor another seafood?

Sorry can't remember what the somethings Embarrassed were but I've tried two cans already and they have both been a big hit with Socks.

Probably Chicken & Herring and Chicken & Lobster.  Mine like the Chicken & Herring, not crazy about the lobster one, though.

Which ones did Socks like?

The local Petco here (Portland Oregon) has Wellness 5.5oz cans and 3.oz cans -  but no 13oz ones of any flavor.  I think the full range of kibble is also there - just bought a small bag of CORE for Cato to try (even though he doesn't deserve it) and a few 3oz cans to try on Kaffe.   I sniffed at the bags and cans and looked them over very well and all seemed OK.

Sigh. I ordered from Petco. First time I've ordered dry too. They shipped from NJ.

The wellness kitten kibble bag was crinkled, torn and taped back shut on the bottom and had a tear in the side and looks like a label pulled off of it, the other bag in another box is fine. (The boxes were shipped separate.)

I just sanitized my hands and tossed it in the garbage.

They're shipping me more. I told them I was shocked, disappointed and almost speechless and I told PetCo Corp. that on the phone. I could not believe after the seizure talked about in this thread that they would do something like this.

sigh, I guess I hoped they wouldn't be so stupid and the other warehouses might be different..

I was wrong..

"Benefit of the doubt" has now been flushed down the toilet.

Too bad you didn't get even instead of throwing it out. I'd have contacted both the FDA local inspector and the local health department and filed complaints for the taped up bag given that we pretty well know what happened to it. Yuck!

I really should have done that. I was too tired this afternoon to have energy to get angry   Sad

I'll check the boxes tomorrow morning, I tossed it in one. If they haven't been taken to the dumpster, I'll retrieve it (they're inside the storage room at work).
