How complicated does this need to get?  FDA, there are over 800 complaints at one site about one particular pet food, what more is needed to instigate an investigation, good grief!  Major kudos to Consumer Affairs for trying to get to the bottom of all this.  I am soooo glad they aren't backing off.  I dont know, if and when, an investigation is ever done if it will show the food is a problem or not but the sheer number of the complaints shouldnt be ignored.  Answers are needed.

Sandi agree 100%. Maybe there is some type of checking into this food going on but no one is at liberty to admit to anything while it's on going. Hoping that a lot of people read this site and also cosumer affairs to see for themselves what the other 800 and counting pet parents have already gone thru and their pets also. Don't know what it will take to convince others to stop and think before feeding this until someone puts forth valid information in conjunction with all these pet owners.

I think posting lab reports on the food sent in by the posters or even sending the report back to them would be a start if Nutro wants us to believe that all is well....and the FDA not supplying what they are legally obligated to if no investigation is ongoing is just as troubling...

If There's No Investigation, Why Can't We Have The Documents?

Pardon us while we step through the looking glass, into the bureaucratic world of Catch-22. As you may recall, ConsumerAffairs.com was denied our request for FDA documents pertaining to lab results, citizen complaints and other documents related to Nutro pet food, because releasing them could interfere with law enforcement proceedings. But another branch of the FDA denied there was any investigation. So, what's the real story? We're headed to court to find out. Read more...

I missed seeing this as I went right to the link menusux posted but this is on the main home page...didn't know if others missed it too...Guess they need to go to court to get the info...or to find out why they can not!

Great article, Carol, thanks for pointing that out.  Good for ConsumerAffairs!  They are on top of this.

CNN has time for this 04/24/2009 "retraction" or whatever it is called, but not the 05/21/2009 Nutro Recall of Cat food for excess zinc and low levels of potassium.

She rocks and should be in charge of looking out for the food in this country - we know she would stay on top of everything.
