If you search Google News for "pet food", you will get a link in Chinese as one of the hits.  Here's what it looks like on Google:

http://guancha.gmw.cn/content/2008-09/19/content_839219.htm

"Melamine is at the center of a recall of 60 million packages of pet food, after the chemical was found in wheat gluten linked this month to the deaths of at ..."

When you go to the page, you will find some Chinese text.  I put the text through Google translate-

http://translate.google.com/translate_t?hl=en#

Here's what it says:

"Author Liu Zhirong

"China's milk contaminated by melamine, is not accidental and isolated.  Just last spring, the US-led some countries issues a "food safety in China threat" theory, then, I was in Africa foreign newspapers and television stations almost daily coverage of China toxic toothpaste, pet feed toxic, poisonous food, warning.  People not to import Chinese food consumption.  Such an issue to allow us to think about: our own home a problem, people in the year and a half ago to expose out and give warning, then why do we turn a blind eye >>  Was developed to the point now widely spread, in addition to quality inspection departments serious dereliction of duty, and we have some people Yelangzi tai. Timg Bujim criticism on.

"April 30, 2007's "The New York Times" also published a lengthy report, the details of the coverage of China's anmal husbandry industry by adding melamine widespread problem.  Reported that: In China, melamine sales and prices have been rising, melamine production enterprises Gao Buqing Why is this such a hot-selling products are used in any place.  Below is the text of the report:"

And then there is a copy of the New York Times story from April 30, 2007 about the widespread use of melamine in animal feed:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/30/business/worldbusiness/30food.html?_r=3&sq=melamine&st=nyt&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&scp=3&adxnnlx=1221342332-20CvEenwxwZxMufhgci2jA

We have a link to the NYT story here:

This is NOT a new report of melamine in PF--the quote you see along with the Google link comes from the April 30, 2007 NYT story.  The author was using the NYT story to illustrate his/her comments translated above.
