Associated Press article by Garance Burke -

The 830,000 pounds from a California plant owned by Cargill gets distributed to school lunch programs. (it could even be in the freezers awaiting the opening of the school year)

USDA inspectors last year caught workers in the plant prodding cattle with electronic shockers and when they fell down, dragged them thru the excrement and other bacteria on the floor where they were then put in the chutes to be processed further.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

...and this sort of thing is exactly why there was the push for gamma irradiation of ground beef for school lunch programme beefburgers
Read "Zapped-Irradiation and the Death of Food" by Mark Worth and Wenonah Hauter of Food and Water Watch.  A real eye-opener.

The Cats Mother - when they are allowed to blast everything with radiation there will be no need for food safety inspectors, clean storage/handling of animals themselves, can just pile it all up and blast, blast, blast it. That'll kill all them mean, nasty bacterias now - won't it! I sometimes wonder if things are not purposely left like this to show how much safer it would all be with a blast here, a blast there, and some more blast of radiation here, there and everywhere. Cuckoo, cukoo, cuckoo comes to mind.........

Of course.

This happens all the time in many areas of life.

Why do you think our countries now have detain-without-charge capability and population surveillance capability far exceeding anything ever used anywhere in the past? All because of so many "terrorist acts", the creation of a fear mentality, the creation of a demand in the population as a result for the government to "do something".

We will all be going back in time very soon, circa 1750. Get ready to grow your own foods and raise your own farm animals (if you're not a vegetarian). You, yourself, will be the only person you can trust.

Already there! At least the veggie & fish part. We raise all of our veggies & Tilapia for fish as I'm afraid to eat salmon & catfish anymore. (Melamine, filth, mercury) We even have the food for the fish tested before we feed it! He wants cows, pigs, sheep, but I can't eat something I've named, fed and petted. (At least I can't pet the fish! Roll Eyes  )

Good on you, Mary Blonde. I wish I was in Hawaii so I could do that, too. I do grow my own veggies in our short summer here and dh fishes out of remote freshwater lakes for pickerel once a year. I buy from local, small farms that are certified "humane" and/or organic and that's about the best I can do around here. I just hope they don't start irradiating the seeds that I grow my veggies from.

Just make sure the veggies seeds say Organic or save seeds from the veggies you've already grown.
I started with organic seeds, then we save seeds from each crop so we don't have to buy anymore (but I still do) plus we know they are GMO free.
