Please keep him in your prayers.
We have him locked in the den since last Wednesday and today he had a brief escape and brutally attacked Frosty taking a big hunk of skin and fur out of Frosty's back.

Pugsley has not eaten since last Wednesday when he ate a bit of kibble.
I was able to force feed him about 3 mls. of Prowl last night and that made him crazed.
Today he will not let me near him with food.
I even went and bought FF to see if that would work.
It seems that smelling food makes him nuts.

He has a horribly crazed look in his eyes right now and I had to hang a towel over the glass of the door because he is charging the door.

Yesterday was a total horror I had to lock all cats in other rooms until I could recapture Pugsley from another escape.  I was sobbing horribly and could not find Rufus......Rufus was hiding in the kitchen sink.  Edgar Winter was literally paralyzed with fear, shaking uncontrollably and unable to move.  I picked Ed up and threw him in a closet.

I will probably send Pugsley to the Bridge..........this is not the same cat we had a month ago.

I just took a small stuffed kitty that I had.
I rubbed it all over the cheeks of all the kitties.

I put it in with Pugsley.

It is ripped to shreds............. Cry

My heart is ripped to shreds...........I don't know what the hell is wrong with him Cry   Cry

I cannot imagine how horrible this must be for you and for the cats, Pugsley included.  Prayers for wisdom, strength and peace about what you decide you must do. I hope that all the others will recover from this trauma. This isn't your Pugsley . . . something must be very wrong with him, from your description. I cannot imagine that he is happy either.

Blessings

This must be so terrifying and so heartbreaking.  Can you reach your vet?
I'm so sorry for what you and all your cats are going through.

RIP Bones - my big, beautiful boy

« Reply #6 on: April 19, 2009, 06:06:44 PM »

Peg, I'm so sorry -- he is showing the neurological signs that go along with hepatic lipidosis at the latter stages. If he doesn't get fed intravenously, I don't think things will get any better. You might want to take him in, have him sedated and try to get some food into him either via nasogastric tube or via IV.

If you can get him into a kennel (put on a leather jacket, leather gloves and bring a big blanket with you to throw over him -- I've had to do this with ferals) take him to an emergency vet if you have one -- if not, get him there in the morning. It's just the disease talking, he doesn't mean it.

Prayers and hugs for both of you.

How horrible and heartbreaking.

I hope you can get him to the vet as bug suggested.  Pugsley must be terrified, too, and feeling so awful.  The emergency vet must be able to help get some food into him?

Peg,
I am so sorry!   Cry  You must be frantic with worry.  What was Angel Vet's suggestion for treatment when she called to tell you that Pugs had the hepatic lipidosis?  I'm surprised that she wouldn't have started some kind of treatment immediately.  Anyway, can you reach her and let her know what is happening?  If not, I think an ER vet might be the option to get something started to try to save poor little Pugsley.  Prayers for all of you!

I went to the fish market and brought back halibut, his favorite.
I went to the gourmet deli and brought back his favorite low salt roasted turkey, his other favorite.

He won't eat either.

He bit me.
Upper canine went right through my fingernail and I felt it hit bone.
It took awhile to unhook his tooth.

I'm going to emergency care first.

I am so sorry about Pugsley. I don;t have any good suggestions, I never had to deal with anything like that, hope you can bring him to the vet after your hand is treated.

I'd be crabby too if I hadn't eaten since Wednesday! Can you get him on IV today?

Sorry about your hand.

I believe his acting out is because he has something wrong with him. Please don't give up on him!!!

Oh this is very sad, Peg.  This almost sounds like what happened with the little stray you had with FIP.  I do hope something can be done to save him.  Prayers to you and family there.

Peg,
Please let us know how your hand is.  I'm so sorry this is happening to you.  I know how much you care for all of your babies.  Does Frosty need to be seen by the vet for his wound?  I hope you can get Pugsley some help.  Continuing prayer that peace will be returned to your home very soon.   Cry
